The Galil AR | Chatterbox in Field-Tested (FT) is the best of this Galil's three wears, because the skin's float only begins at 0.35. In this wear it runs from 0.35 to 0.38. It is the only Covert Galil, part of The Chroma Collection, and it drops from the Chroma Case.
What the Galil AR | Chatterbox looks like in Field-Tested
The base is bright yellow, crossed by black stripes that wrap in bands around the stock and magazine. The handguard and grip are brown. A pale skull is drawn on the receiver cover, and the finish is named after it: by Valve's description, when the bolt cycles, the skull seems to chatter its teeth.
Valve writes that the Galil is hand-painted and worn, so the scuffing is built into the artwork itself. That is why even the best wear of this finish looks well used.
Where the Galil AR | Chatterbox came from
The skin came out in January 2015 together with the Chroma Case. The collection has two Covert finishes: this Galil and AWP | Man-o'-war. The caption Valve attached to the description is a grim joke about laughter: when Chatterbox laughs, all you hear is screaming.
What to check before buying
Before paying for a Galil AR | Chatterbox, it helps to check:
- the float: 0.35 to 0.38 spans just three hundredths, so listings barely differ;
- the skull on the receiver cover, which should read as a whole;
- the name tag and stickers this Galil already carries.
The Chatterbox does not come in two different artworks. The band from 0.35 to 0.38 is tight, and the outermost listings differ only in the number.
What the Galil AR | Chatterbox costs in Field-Tested
The finish has just three wears, and this is the top one. Two lie below it:
- Well-Worn is about a third cheaper;
- Battle-Scarred is about 1.6 times cheaper.
Factory New and Minimal Wear do not exist for this skin, since the float starts at 0.35. That makes Field-Tested narrow, around 6% of the finish's scale, and it counts as the skin's top wear.
Among Covert Galils there is nothing to compare it with, because the Chatterbox is the only one of its rank.
Getting the Galil AR | Chatterbox
The Galil AR | Chatterbox drops from the Chroma Case. No other case holds this finish.
What goes into a trade-up for it is ten skins one rank below. This skin's collection has three Classified finishes: AK-47 | Cartel, M4A4 | 龍王 (Dragon King) and P250 | Muertos. It has two Covert ones, so with a ten from it the odds of getting the Galil are one in two. The Covert rank itself works as an input for a craft: five Covert skins make a rare special item.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The Galil AR | Chatterbox has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were issued for this finish: those were made only for tournament map collections. But you can build a Souvenir copy yourself, because the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a regular skin from the inventory. That is why the odd Souvenir copy turns up even where packages never existed.
Stickers and craft on the Galil AR | Chatterbox
The bright yellow-and-black ground clashes with any colored sticker. Black and white ones work best on it, while yellow and orange ones merge into the paint. Free space is on the brown handguard panel and on the grip.
Who this wear suits
A Field-Tested Galil AR | Chatterbox in exactly this wear makes sense when:
- you want a Covert Galil for CS2 with the most intact paint this finish ever has;
- the skull on the cover must be distinguishable rather than worn to a smudge;
- predictability matters, since the band from 0.35 to 0.38 is so tight that listings hardly differ.
For a cheaper way into the finish, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred remain.
