Where the Glock-18 | Vogue came from

A raspberry-red slide carries orange-yellow rays, and painted eyes sit on top with light-blue irises, black lashes and white glints. There is a pink ring at the muzzle, the trigger guard is pink-raspberry, and the frame and grip are violet-purple fading to dark. Paint covers the entire pistol, and hardly any bare metal is left.

The eyes lie on the flat side of the slide, which is why they are recognizable in every wear. What yields first in Battle-Scarred: the fine lettering, the black outlines along the slide edges and the pink muzzle ring. The violet grip dulls where the hand holds it, while the large artwork stays legible.

What to check before buying

The finish is the work of KASI, a Steam Workshop author. His entry, "Glock-18 | Eye Contact", is dated July 20, 2018. By his own account, he drew the eyes from his girlfriend as a birthday present and put the theme together from pop art and vaporwave. The idea is that a Glock works at a range where you can see the whites of an enemy's eyes, so eye contact has to be held up close. The finish's number in the Valve catalog is 963, and the Fracture Collection came out in August 2020, with the skin in it from the start.
