Description

This is the Glock-18 | Wraiths in Factory New (FN), and it is valued for the untouched relief of its engraving. The wear band runs from 0.00 to 0.07. It is Mil-Spec rank; the Glock comes from the Shadow Case, and no other case holds this finish.

What the Glock-18 | Wraiths looks like in Factory New

The finish has a single palette: steel-gray with a beige haze and no bright colors at all. The top and side of the slide are taken up by continuous engraving of elongated shapes and curls, with recesses that are almost black. The frame and grip are light gray, with a fine rough texture and factory stamps. The barrel and muzzle are left light.

In Factory New the relief reads in full: the pattern shows elongated silhouettes with blurred outlines, the wraiths themselves. On this finish the relief on the slide edge is the first to rub away, and the pattern loses depth there. The light frame gets dirty along the raised parts of the grip. At floats up to 0.07 neither is visible yet.

Where the Glock-18 | Wraiths came from

The finish was made by an artist who goes by Gaunt. The finish itself is dated September 17, 2015, a couple of days after the collection opened. Its number in the Valve catalog is 495.

What to check before buying

Before buying a Glock-18 | Wraiths, a few points are worth checking:

  • the float: within 0.00 to 0.07 the difference shows only on a close look;

  • whether the Glock has stickers or a name tag applied;

  • the cleanliness of the light frame, since dirt shows on it sooner than on the engraving.

There are no two different patterns on the Glock-18 | Wraiths. Within 0.00 to 0.07 there is nothing to choose a best copy from.

What the Glock-18 | Wraiths costs in Factory New

This wear stands apart on this finish, and the other four are cheaper by large multiples:

  • Minimal Wear is cheaper by about seven times;

  • Well-Worn is cheaper by about twelve times;

  • Field-Tested is cheaper by about fourteen times;

  • Battle-Scarred is cheaper by about sixteen times.

The order in the lower half is broken: Field-Tested costs less than the more worn Well-Worn. The difference between these wears is a matter of cents, so there is no pattern to look for in their order. What you pay for here is exactly the float up to 0.07, and you pay a lot.

Among Mil-Spec Glocks, the Glock-18 | Wraiths in this wear is ninth by price of sixteen. Close to it are Glock-18 | Warhawk and Glock-18 | Sacrifice, with Glock-18 | Off World a little dearer. The top of the rank is held by Glock-18 | Reactor and Glock-18 | Ironwork, and the cheapest of all is Glock-18 | Teal Graf.

Getting the Glock-18 | Wraiths

There is one route: the Shadow Case. The Shadow Collection opened in the game on September 15, 2015.

This Glock cannot be built through a trade-up: Mil-Spec is the lowest rank in the set, so there is nothing to trade up from. The finish itself works as an input, though: ten Mil-Spec skins from the collection give one Restricted skin, for example P250 | Wingshot or MP7 | Special Delivery.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The Glock-18 | Wraiths has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were ever released for this finish: they were made only for the map tournament collections. But you can build a Souvenir copy yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why a few Souvenir copies turn up now and then even where no packages ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the Glock-18 | Wraiths

The background is flat and gray, so almost any sticker reads on this Glock. Colored stickers look brighter here than on busy finishes. There is plenty of flat space for a craft: the frame and the underside of the slide are free of engraving. Fine print should not go over the pattern itself, because the relief swallows it.

Who this wear suits

Buying the Glock-18 | Wraiths in this wear makes sense if:

  • you want untouched engraving relief, not just the shape of the pattern;

  • the Glock is for a CS2 display or for a craft;

  • the sevenfold gap to Minimal Wear does not bother you.

For fighting in CS2 the premium is debatable: at a distance the gray slide looks the same at any float. Only a close inspection catches the difference from the lower wears.
