Description

In Field-Tested (FT), the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy keeps the copper sheen intact on its flat surfaces, while the edges are already worn down to gray. This wear spans 0.15 to 0.38. It is a Classified skin, and it drops from the Huntsman Weapon Case.

What the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy looks like in Field-Tested

The receiver, magazine, stock and the middle of the suppressor are filled with orange-copper with a bronze cast. The front of the suppressor, the carry handle and the handguard are left black, so the two colors meet in broad areas. There is no artwork on the body at all: what does the work is the metallic sheen and the contrast of copper against black. The copper areas show a mirror shine and thin dark lines along the edges, and nothing is printed on it.

In Field-Tested the copper on the edges of the receiver and suppressor lightens to gray, and the shine is the first thing to go there. Copies in this wear can carry quite different amounts of wear, since the band from 0.15 to 0.38 is wide. The finish's own scale ends at 0.90, so the skin never reaches the bottom of the standard scale.

Where the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy came from

The Huntsman Collection was added to the game on May 1, 2014. The finish is credited to FACEIT: a tournament platform stands behind the artwork, not a private artist. In Valve's skin catalog the work is number 301. Valve's item text says only that the body is anodized black and orange.

What to check before buying

Check these on an M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy:

  • float inside 0.15 to 0.38: at 0.15 the shine on the receiver is still even, and at 0.38 the edges are gray;

  • the condition of the suppressor edges, where copper wears off sooner than on the flat areas;

  • stickers and a name tag already on this copy of the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy.

The pattern on the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy is the same on every copy, so there is no particular one to look for.

What the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy costs in Field-Tested

Factory New costs nine times as much, and Minimal Wear about two thirds more. Below there is almost no difference: Well-Worn is nearly level, and Battle-Scarred is about a fourteenth cheaper. The three worn wears sit in one price corridor, so you choose between them by look.

Among Classified M4A1-S skins, the Atomic Alloy stands second from the top of twelve: only M4A1-S | Master Piece is higher, at roughly four times the price. Right below come M4A1-S | Fatal Glitch, then M4A1-S | Control Panel and M4A1-S | Guardian, and the cheapest in the rank is M4A1-S | Solitude.

Getting the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy

The Huntsman Weapon Case is where the skin drops from, and it is the only case that contains this finish.

For a contract to return an M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy, it takes ten skins one rank lower from a single collection. The collection has four Classified skins, so the odds are one in four. The finish also works as an input: ten Classified skins from the set give one Covert skin, either AK-47 | Vulcan or M4A4 | Desert-Strike.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were issued for this finish, because only tournament map collections had them. Still, a Souvenir copy can be put together by hand. The Souvenir-O-Matic applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to a regular skin from the inventory. That is how such a copy can exist where no package ever did.

Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy

There is plenty of even space for a sticker: the copper side of the receiver and the black handguard both work. On copper, orange and gold logos get lost, while cold blue and white ones read sharply. The black areas take bright colors, and on worn edges part of a sticker wears off together with the paint.

Who this wear suits

Buying the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy in Field-Tested is reasonable when:

  • you want the copper shine on an M4A1-S without the ninefold surcharge for Factory New;

  • intact flat areas on the receiver matter, and perfect edges do not;

  • the rifle is going into CS2 matches rather than a display case.

Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are only a few percent away from this wear, so it is the one to take for the look.
