Description

Minimal Wear (MW) is the edge of the scale beyond which the price jumps: Factory New costs almost five times as much for the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy. MW is the 0.07 to 0.15 band. The skin is Classified rank, and the silenced rifle belongs to The Huntsman Collection.

What the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy looks like in Minimal Wear

Valve calls the finish anodized black and orange. There is no pattern: everything rests on the contrast of two metallic colors. The barrel, the lower part of the receiver and the rings on the handguard are orange, while the suppressor, handguard, magazine and stock are black. Two orange stripes run on the suppressor near the muzzle.

The colors are laid out in large blocks, and there is no lettering on the weapon. Wear reaches the edges first: on the receiver and suppressor the orange coating pales along the edges, and the sheen is lost there ahead of the flat surfaces.

Where the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy came from

FACEIT is credited in the finish's list of authors. The skin appeared on May 1, 2014, when the Huntsman collection was added to the game. In Valve's catalog the finish is number 301.

What to check before buying

Choosing a particular M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy comes down to these points:

  • the float: the 0.07 to 0.15 band is 0.08 of the finish's 0.90 scale, less than a tenth;

  • the edges of the receiver and suppressor, where the orange coating lightens;

  • the name tag and stickers already on this M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy.

Every lot carries the same pattern, with no changes from copy to copy. Lots in this narrow 0.07 to 0.15 band are hard to tell apart, since the room between them is small.

What the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy costs in Minimal Wear

Set against Minimal Wear, the rest of the ladder runs like this:

  • Factory New: almost five times the price;

  • Field-Tested: about one and a half times cheaper;

  • Well-Worn: the same, about one and a half times cheaper;

  • Battle-Scarred: again about one and a half times cheaper.

The three lower wears cost almost the same, and the whole jump falls on the top one. The finish's scale stretches to 0.90, and Minimal Wear and Factory New together take only its first 0.15.

Counting Classified M4A1-S skins in this wear from the top by price, the finish is fifth of fourteen. M4A1-S | Fatal Glitch, M4A1-S | Master Piece, M4A1-S | Blue Phosphor and M4A1-S | Hot Rod cost more. The nearest above is the Fatal Glitch.

Getting the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy

The skin drops from the Huntsman Weapon Case, and the finish has no other case.

To trade up into the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy you need ten skins of the rank below from this collection. The Classified rank itself feeds on into a trade-up for Covert: AK-47 | Vulcan or M4A4 | Desert-Strike.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir sets were issued for this finish, because they existed only for tournament map collections. A Souvenir copy can still be assembled by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from the inventory. So single Souvenir copies sometimes appear even where no sets ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy

A finish without a pattern leaves the whole weapon free for stickers. The black handguard, magazine and stock give a dark background for light and colored stickers, and the orange receiver takes black and gold marks. Flat blocks of color do not hide a sticker's edges, so a tidy setup shows here.

Who this wear suits

The M4A1-S | Atomic Alloy in this wear is worth buying if:

  • you want a silenced M4A1-S in orange and black with no pattern, for a CS2 loadout;

  • Minimal Wear is enough, and paying almost five times as much for Factory New makes no sense;

  • the narrow 0.07 to 0.15 band and a predictable look with no surprises matter to you.

In CS2 matches wear is only visual. If the coating must shine untouched along the edges, you need Factory New: that is where the price boundary runs.
