The M4A1-S | Cyrex in Factory New (FN) is the top of the scale, yet by price it barely differs from the other four wears. In this wear the float band is 0.00 to 0.07. Covert rank; the skin drops from the Operation Breakout Weapon Case.
What the M4A1-S | Cyrex looks like in Factory New
The finish has three colors, and Valve lists them outright: black, white and red. The suppressor is dark, with a fine hexagonal mesh, and at its base sits a red sleeve with white technical markings. The exposed stretch of barrel behind the sleeve is red too, and the handguard is black and ribbed.
The receiver is black, with red outlines laid over it: around the ejection port, by the fire selector and along the edge of the magazine. There is a white insert on the side of the receiver, and the magazine itself is split by height, white on top and bright red below. The heel of the grip is red, and the stock is left black.
In Factory New the white insert and the top of the magazine are clean, and the red is not rubbed off the ribs. There is almost nothing to choose by float, since the 0.00 to 0.07 band is short. In the lower wears the white top of the magazine grays first, then the receiver edges.
Where the M4A1-S | Cyrex came from
The finish was devised by a Steam Workshop artist who goes by Nextgenz. He submitted it on May 21, 2014 under the title "M4A1S | Cyrex". The author added one line to it: the artwork is entirely vector and was made with a mouse, without a graphics tablet.
The Breakout Collection appeared on July 1, 2014. In Valve's finish catalog this M4A1-S is number 360; for comparison, Liquidation, released in 2025, is number 1340. Three more guns carry this finish: USP-S | Cyrex, SG 553 | Cyrex and SCAR-20 | Cyrex. The artwork is shared, but they are separate items.
What to check before buying
What people look at when choosing:
- Float within 0.00 to 0.07: haze shows on the white insert sooner than on the black body.
- The state of the red sleeve on the suppressor and of the outlines by the ejection port.
- Stickers already on the body, and a name tag.
There is no pattern variance: what is on one listing is on all the others.
What the M4A1-S | Cyrex costs in Factory New
The wears of this finish cost almost the same. Minimal Wear is cheaper by a few percent; Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred by about a tenth. For a Covert skin that is rare: on most finishes the gap between Factory New and Battle-Scarred is a multiple.
This rifle has eleven Covert finishes in CS2, and in this wear the M4A1-S | Cyrex takes fourth place in ascending price. Mecha Industries costs a few percent more, Golden Coil about a fifth more, and Fade is slightly cheaper. The dearest in the rank are Imminent Danger and Welcome to the Jungle, at seven to eight times as much.
Getting the M4A1-S | Cyrex
The first route is the Operation Breakout Weapon Case, where this finish sits. You can also get the M4A1-S | Cyrex through a trade-up, which needs ten skins of the rank below from this collection.
The M4A1-S | Cyrex itself can serve as an input for a knife craft: for the Breakout Collection that is the Butterfly Knife.
StatTrak and Souvenir
Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Cyrex
A StatTrak version of the M4A1-S | Cyrex exists. No Souvenir packages were released for this finish: they were made only for the tournament map collections. But you can build a Souvenir copy yourself — the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why the odd Souvenir copy turns up now and then even where no packages ever existed.
The base is already taken by color, so red and black stickers dissolve on it. Blue, green and yellow ones give contrast. The magazine on this rifle is bright on its own, so for a craft in CS2 the stock and the suppressor are the most even places.
Who this wear suits
Factory New is worth buying for the M4A1-S | Cyrex for these purposes:
- you want a clean white top on the magazine and an even red sleeve;
- you are preparing a craft that needs a tidy base;
- the premium for the top of the scale is small here.
The difference from Field-Tested is about a tenth of the price, so saving on wear gains almost nothing. In first person the handguard and the suppressor are visible, and the red sleeve lands in frame.
