M4A1-S | Cyrex (Field-Tested)

Field-Tested (FT) is the midpoint of the M4A1-S | Cyrex scale, where the price sits close to the neighboring wears. In this wear the float falls between 0.15 and 0.38. Covert rank; the suppressed rifle belongs to The Breakout Collection.

What the M4A1-S | Cyrex looks like in Field-Tested

The finish has a black base, and the color sits on it in large planes. Red and white blocks divide the lower part of the magazine, red stripes run along the receiver, and the red segment of the suppressor carries fine white markings. The stock, handguard and barrel stay black.

Valve describes the finish as a high-tech design in black, white and red. The large planes read from a distance, while the markings on the suppressor are visible only up close.

Where the M4A1-S | Cyrex came from

The author is Nextgenz, who put the submission "M4A1S | Cyrex" on the Steam Workshop on May 21, 2014. He wrote briefly about his work: the finish is entirely vector, drawn with a mouse alone, with no graphics tablet.

The M4A1-S | Cyrex has been in The Breakout Collection since the set launched on July 1, 2014. Valve's catalog number for the finish is 360.

What to check before buying

These are the points that count when buying an M4A1-S | Cyrex:

• Float within the 0.15–0.38 band: toward the upper edge the wear is more noticeable than toward the lower one;

• The magazine and suppressor, where the red and white blocks lie in large patches and the state of the paint shows at once;

• The name tag and stickers this M4A1-S | Cyrex already carries.

Pattern is fixed on this finish, so it has no say in the price. Search by the float number rather than by the wear label: the 0.15–0.38 band is wide. The finish's scale ends at 0.50, so Battle-Scarred occupies only the 0.45–0.50 stretch.

What the M4A1-S | Cyrex costs in Field-Tested

The price of this wear is close to the other four:

• Factory New costs about an eighth more;

• Minimal Wear costs almost the same;

• Well-Worn costs almost the same;

• Battle-Scarred costs a few percent more.

From the cheapest wear to the most expensive the difference is about an eighth of the price. It is easier to choose here by looks and float than by price tag.

Among the Covert M4A1-S skins, the finish is third of ten by price in this wear. Only the M4A1-S | Imminent Danger and the M4A1-S | Welcome to the Jungle cost more. The nearest below is the M4A1-S | Printstream; the rest are noticeably cheaper.

Getting the M4A1-S | Cyrex

The skin drops from the Operation Breakout Weapon Case; no other case holds the finish.

For a trade-up to return the M4A1-S | Cyrex, the contract takes ten skins one rank lower from a single collection. The Covert rank itself carries on into a craft: five Covert skins of The Breakout Collection yield that set's knife, the Butterfly Knife.

StatTrak and Souvenir

A StatTrak version of the M4A1-S | Cyrex exists. Souvenir packages were never issued for this finish, because they were made only for tournament map collections. Still, you can build a souvenir copy yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to a regular skin from your inventory. That is why a stray souvenir copy can exist even where no package ever did.

Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Cyrex

The black stock, handguard and barrel leave plenty of free space: a sticker there reads with no competition from colored blocks. On the red and white planes a sticker fights the finish and covers the block borders. White, red and gold stickers carry on the finish's palette.

Who this wear suits

Field-Tested on the M4A1-S | Cyrex is worth buying if:

• you want a red-and-black suppressed M4A1-S for CS2, and the price should not hinge on the wear label;

• you pick by float number, since Field-Tested offers a wide 0.15–0.38 band;

• a Covert finish from 2014 with a clear Workshop history matters to you.

In CS2 matches, wear affects only looks. If you want clean red blocks without scuffs, look at Factory New: it differs in price by about an eighth.
