Description

The M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S in Field-Tested (FT) is the second cheapest of the five grades, with only Battle-Scarred below it. Float here runs from 0.15 to 0.38. The finish rests on one device: a dinosaur tearing out through the punctured body of the rifle. Its rank is Restricted, and the Revolution Case is where it drops from.

What the M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S looks like in Field-Tested

The body is flooded with a saturated, dense green gloss. The rail and carry handle are brick maroon, and maroon stripes run down from them across the green like the hide of a predator. The magazine well and magazine are yellow, crossed by black diagonal strokes, with a stack of rounds in the window. The suppressor is green with maroon bands, the pistol grip gray.

The story is gathered in one spot, the left side of the receiver. The metal there is torn open, the edges of the hole bent outward. A bony velociraptor muzzle with an orange eye leans out, and below it a black clawed foot digs into the body. Valve describes it plainly: the dinosaur claws through the side of the weapon.

In Field-Tested the green gloss gives way first, with pale scrapes along the handguard ribs and the receiver edge. On the yellow magazine they show less. The hole is drawn dark and ragged, so wear beside it does not catch the eye.

Where the M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S came from

The finish is the work of Sparkwire. He posted it to the Steam Workshop on October 14, 2020 under the title Feeding Frenzy | Park Ranger | M4A1-S, in ranger colors. It waited more than two years to reach the game.

Sparkwire's submission gave a note on the velociraptor and explained the idea: three variations on one trick, the animal tearing metal like paper. The Revolution Collection is dated February 9, 2023. Valve's update note listed the case contents, seventeen new finishes from community authors plus gloves from the Clutch Case as the rare special item. The finish is number 1223 in Valve's catalog.

What to check before buying

The criteria to sort by are few:

  • the float, which tells how many pale scrapes have gathered on the green gloss;

  • the receiver edge next to the hole, where those scrapes collect;

  • the stickers and name tag inherited from the previous owner.

Pattern is not rolled on this skin: every copy carries the same artwork.

What the M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S costs in Field-Tested

Factory New is dearer by roughly four and a half times, Minimal Wear by nearly double. Well-Worn costs about a sixth more than Field-Tested, although the wear on it is heavier. Only Battle-Scarred stays cheaper, and the gap to it is narrow.

Among Restricted M4A1-S finishes the Emphorosaur-S comes second counting up from the bottom of ten. Only M4A1-S | Nitro is cheaper. M4A1-S | Night Terror sits right beside it, M4A1-S | Electrum and M4A1-S | Glitched Paint are noticeably dearer, M4A1-S | Liquidation several times over. The ceiling of the rank is held by M4A1-S | Dark Water, M4A1-S | Bright Water and M4A1-S | Basilisk.

Getting the M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S

The first route is the Revolution Case. A contract takes ten skins one rank down from the same set, and the collection holds five Restricted skins, so it returns one of five.

It serves as an input in turn: Restricted skins from the Revolution Collection return AWP | Duality, P2000 | Wicked Sick or UMP-45 | Wild Child.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S

The M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

The green gloss is loud on its own, and few stickers argue with it. Black and white hold up; cold blues and purples clash with the green. The yellow magazine is no use for a sticker, the diagonal strokes having taken that space. The hole with the muzzle is best left uncovered, the one piece of story the finish has.

Who this wear suits

This grade is worth buying in these situations:

  • an inexpensive Restricted M4A1-S with a readable story on the body is wanted for CS2;

  • the trick with the hole is the point, and it lies on a flat area that stays whole in Field-Tested;

  • the rifle is going into CS2 matches rather than close inspection.

From 0.15 to 0.38 the scuffing builds up noticeably, and it shows on ordinary inspection.
