The M4A1-S | Mecha Industries in Field-Tested (FT) is the wear where the white panels have started to go gray while the orange trim still holds its color. The float band here runs 0.15–0.38. It is Covert rank, and in CS2 the skin comes from the Gamma Case. The Gamma Collection was added to the game on June 15, 2016.
What the M4A1-S | Mecha Industries looks like in Field-Tested
The suppressor, receiver and stock are white, broken up by light gray panels. Thin orange lines follow the panel seams. Along the suppressor they run the length of the body, on the receiver they gather into trim, and on the magazine and stock they widen into stripes. There is no scene to the finish. It rests on panels, trim and small technical markings with numbers. An orange triangle sits on the stock and the barrel is dark. Valve describes the rifle plainly: the body is built from panels of hardened ceramic.
The white panels dirty first. The edges of the suppressor and receiver turn gray, then the orange lines dull on the raised parts. At the low end of the band the panels stay almost entirely clean; at the high end the gray haze has taken the flat surfaces as well. The skin's scale stops at 0.80, so this finish never reaches the heaviest wear at all.
Where the M4A1-S | Mecha Industries came from
The finish was drawn by a Steam Workshop artist going by coyote37. Valve's catalog lists it under number 587. The Gamma Collection came out together with the case of the same name.
What to check before buying
What matters when buying an M4A1-S | Mecha Industries:
- the float within 0.15–0.38: across that stretch the skin changes visibly, so pick the listing by the number;
- the suppressor edges, which gray before the flat panels do;
- any name tag or stickers already on this rifle.
Every copy carries the same artwork, and there are no rare ones.
What the M4A1-S | Mecha Industries costs in Field-Tested
The wears sit close together in price, with one exception:
- Factory New costs almost twice as much;
- Minimal Wear is level with it, the gap under three percent;
- Well-Worn is level too;
- Battle-Scarred is cheaper by about a twentieth.
Only Factory New carries a premium. Between Field-Tested, Minimal Wear and Well-Worn the difference fits inside a few percent.
Among Covert M4A1-S finishes this one in Field-Tested is fourth from the bottom by price, out of ten. The M4A1-S | Chantico's Fire and the M4A1-S | Hyper Beast cost almost the same, and the M4A1-S | Printstream is about one and a half times as much. Cheaper are the M4A1-S | Golden Coil and the M4A1-S | Vaporwave.
Getting the M4A1-S | Mecha Industries
The M4A1-S | Mecha Industries drops from the Gamma Case, and the finish has never been in any other case.
In a trade-up contract it comes out of ten skins of the rank below, taken from this collection. The collection has two Covert finishes, so the chance of landing this one is one in two. The skin can itself be traded up as well. Five Covert skins from one collection give a random rare special item, and in Gamma those are knives: Bayonet, Flip Knife, Gut Knife, Karambit and M9 Bayonet.
StatTrak and Souvenir
Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Mecha Industries
The M4A1-S | Mecha Industries has a StatTrak™ version. No Souvenir packages were ever released for this finish: they were made only for the map collections of tournaments. But a Souvenir copy can be built by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why the odd Souvenir copy turns up now and then even where no packages ever existed.
The white suppressor panels give a long, even stretch for a sticker, and any logo reads there. Leave the orange lines and trim uncovered: without them the finish falls apart into white blocks. On the grayed edges part of a sticker is lost along with the paint.
Who this wear suits
The M4A1-S | Mecha Industries in Field-Tested makes sense under these conditions:
- you want Covert rank on this rifle without the Factory New premium;
- the rifle goes into live matches in CS2, where the white panels will gray anyway;
- you are ready to choose by the number rather than take the first listing that comes.
This wear will not give you clean edges: the gray haze on the suppressor is there even at the bottom of the band. What you get instead is no overpayment against the neighboring wears.
