M4A1-S | Night Terror in Battle-Scarred (BS): a battered rifle with red scrawls for CS2, whose float scale stops at 0.70. It is a Restricted skin that drops from the Dreams & Nightmares Case. This wear of the M4A1-S | Night Terror lies between 0.45 and 0.70, which is 36% of the skin's range.
What the M4A1-S | Night Terror looks like in Battle-Scarred
The whole rifle is covered in red on dark. The marks are angular, like tags and runes, and no word can be read. The densest cluster lies on the side above the magwell, with a blurred figure with hair beside it. The suppressor is smoky, with a red ring at its front, and a red stripe runs along the bottom of the grip. The magazine is streaked, with a brown-gold panel.
In Battle-Scarred the thin red lines on the raised edges break and merge with the scuffing. The base is worn anyway, so new scratches on it do not stand out. The flat side of the receiver holds the red best, and the artwork reads there even in this wear.
Where the M4A1-S | Night Terror came from
The skin's author is Madara, an artist on the Steam Workshop. He posted the "M4A1-S: Insomnia" submission on October 18, 2021, and in its text the work is credited to a fictional company, Eternity. The poem that ends the description breaks off on the word "Insomnia".
The Dreams & Nightmares Collection was released on January 21, 2022, and the M4A1-S | Night Terror has been in it since launch. Valve picked seventeen Workshop finishes for the case. The catalog number is 1130.
What to check before buying
What separates one M4A1-S | Night Terror listing from another:
- the stickers and name tag already on that copy;
- the float: the skin's ceiling is 0.70, so the Battle-Scarred band is cut off at the top;
- the red on the receiver side, which on worn listings survives best there.
Every copy of the M4A1-S | Night Terror carries the same pattern. Listings within 0.45 to 0.70 differ noticeably in appearance.
What the M4A1-S | Night Terror costs in Battle-Scarred
Measured against Battle-Scarred, the other wears of the skin cost this much:
- Factory New is dearer by a factor of two and a half;
- Minimal Wear costs about a quarter more;
- Field-Tested costs only slightly less;
- Well-Worn costs the same, with a difference under 3%.
Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are priced almost alike. Among Restricted M4A1-S skins, BS sits third from the bottom. M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S and M4A1-S | Nitro are cheaper, while M4A1-S | Electrum costs about the same with a small premium. M4A1-S | Liquidation is about one and a half times dearer, M4A1-S | Glitched Paint almost twice, and M4A1-S | Basilisk more than ten times.
Getting the M4A1-S | Night Terror
The Dreams & Nightmares Case remains the main way. A trade-up for the M4A1-S | Night Terror requires ten skins of the next rank down from this collection.
StatTrak and Souvenir
A StatTrak version of the M4A1-S | Night Terror exists. No Souvenir Packages were issued for this finish, because those were made only for tournament map collections. Even so, you can build a Souvenir copy yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. As a result, the odd Souvenir copy appears even where no packages ever existed.
Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Night Terror
The stock and suppressor suit stickers: they carry the least artwork, and the red ring at the front of the suppressor stays free. Large black and white stickers read on the dark base, while red ones get lost among the scrawls.
Who this wear suits
Buying the M4A1-S | Night Terror in Battle-Scarred is right if at least one of these applies:
- you want a rifle with handwritten graphics for CS2, and scuffs do not bother you;
- you want the most worn look the skin has, and in price it is level with Well-Worn;
- you want the kill counter on the most worn version of the skin.
Here Battle-Scarred means a float from 0.45 up to the ceiling of 0.70, and copies are best preserved near 0.45.
