Description

M4A1-S | Night Terror in Factory New (FN): red scrawls on a dark rifle that wear has not yet touched. It is a Restricted skin that drops from the Dreams & Nightmares Case and is built for the Counter-Terrorists. This wear lies between 0.00 and 0.07, a tenth of the skin's whole range.

What the M4A1-S | Night Terror looks like in Factory New

The base is dark: the receiver is almost black, the handguard brownish, the stock black. Blood-red marks run over it, angular tags and runes, and none of them forms a word. The densest cluster sits on the side above the magwell, with a blurred dark figure beside it that looks like a head. The suppressor is smoky gray with a red ring at the front. The magazine is spotted red and carries a brown-gold panel.

In Factory New the red strokes on the raised edges are intact. They are the thinnest lines in the artwork and the first to break on the carry handle, the back of the magazine and the receiver ribs. At FN they are still untouched. The side of the receiver holds the scrawls longer than any other part.

Where the M4A1-S | Night Terror came from

The skin was drawn by a Steam Workshop artist who goes by Madara. The submission was called "M4A1-S: Insomnia" and was published on October 18, 2021. In its text the author presents the work as a product of a fictional company, Eternity, which he himself calls fake. He closes with lines about the night and light.

The Dreams & Nightmares Collection came out on January 21, 2022, and the M4A1-S | Night Terror has been listed in it from day one. The case brought seventeen skins selected from the Workshop. In Valve's catalog the skin's number is 1130.

What to check before buying

In a listing of the M4A1-S | Night Terror, these are the parameters to check:

  • float between 0.00 and 0.07: the closer to zero, the better the thin red lines survive;

  • the red on the carry handle and the back of the magazine, where wear shows first;

  • any name tag and stickers already left on the rifle.

Hunting for the M4A1-S | Night Terror by pattern index makes no sense, because the artwork does not change. In this wear it is a narrow band, 0.00 to 0.07, and the copies barely differ from one another.

What the M4A1-S | Night Terror costs in Factory New

This is the skin's most expensive wear, and the rest are noticeably cheaper:

  • Minimal Wear costs almost half as much;

  • Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred each come in at two and a half times less.

The three lower wears are almost level, so the whole gap lies between Factory New and the rest. Among Restricted M4A1-S skins in this wear, the Night Terror is the cheapest. The closest, M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S, costs one and a half times as much. M4A1-S | Glitched Paint and M4A1-S | Electrum cost three to four times as much, M4A1-S | Liquidation and M4A1-S | Nitro six to seven times. M4A1-S | Icarus Fell stands above them all, hundreds of times dearer.

Getting the M4A1-S | Night Terror

There is a single case: Dreams & Nightmares. Both the skin and its StatTrak version drop from it.

A trade-up delivers the M4A1-S | Night Terror as well: the contract takes ten skins of the next rank down from one collection.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The M4A1-S | Night Terror also comes with StatTrak. The finish never had Souvenir Packages of its own, since those were released only for tournament map collections. A Souvenir copy can still be built by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to an ordinary skin from your inventory. So the occasional Souvenir copy shows up even for a finish that never had a package.

Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Night Terror

The body is taken up by red graphics, and a sticker on the receiver competes with the drawing. Large single-color works (black, white, cool blues) look calmer, while small logos sink among the scrawls. Red stickers merge with the artwork and vanish. For a CS2 craft, the suppressor and stock have the most room, since they carry less artwork.

Who this wear suits

Buying the M4A1-S | Night Terror in Factory New is worth it for these reasons:

  • you want the red scrawls whole, with no worn edges;

  • the rifle is for a CS2 loadout and needs every detail of the artwork, including the thin lines on the carry handle;

  • you want the cleanest version of the skin for a Dreams & Nightmares Collection set.

Next to Minimal Wear the price difference is almost twofold, while in the artwork it comes down to thin strokes along the edges.
