M4A1-S | Night Terror in Minimal Wear (MW): red scrawls on a dark rifle, with light wear on the edges only. It is a Restricted skin from the Dreams & Nightmares Collection, made for the Counter-Terrorist side. This wear covers floats 0.07 to 0.15. In CS2 the rifle also exists in a kill-counter version.
What the M4A1-S | Night Terror looks like in Minimal Wear
The artwork is built on red and dark. Red marks like tags and runes cover the carry handle, both sides of the receiver, the barrel, the magazine and part of the suppressor. No words can be read in them. The suppressor has a red ring at the front, and the grip a red stripe along the bottom. The magazine carries red smears and a brown-gold panel. The base is dark, while the stock and the body of the suppressor stay mostly gray.
In Minimal Wear the red holds in full: the thin strokes on the carry handle and the receiver ribs are only beginning to rub away at the edges. The base looks scuffed even without wear, so fresh scratches on it are hard to see.
Where the M4A1-S | Night Terror came from
Steam Workshop artist Madara posted the work as "M4A1-S: Insomnia". In the submission text he described it as a project of a fictional company, Eternity. By the author's account, the work was written into Valve's world with realism kept in every detail. Valve took the lines of verse about the night from that text for the item description.
The M4A1-S | Night Terror appeared on January 21, 2022, when the Dreams & Nightmares Collection was added to the game. In its release note Valve said the case holds seventeen skins from the CS:GO Workshop. The skin's number in the catalog is 1130.
What to check before buying
Before taking an M4A1-S | Night Terror, look at these points:
- the name tag and stickers, which stay on the listing with the rifle;
- the float, 0.07 to 0.15: about 11% of the skin's scale, so the ends of the band differ only slightly;
- the red strokes on the carry handle and receiver ribs, where wear starts.
There are no two different patterns of the M4A1-S | Night Terror. In this wear it is a tight band, 0.07 to 0.15, where the difference between listings is hard to catch.
What the M4A1-S | Night Terror costs in Minimal Wear
Measured from Minimal Wear, the other wears come out like this:
- Factory New costs almost twice as much;
- Field-Tested costs about a quarter less;
- Well-Worn costs about a quarter less;
- Battle-Scarred costs a fifth less.
Downward the price drops by a quarter, and upward it nearly doubles. In this wear the Night Terror is the cheapest of the Restricted M4A1-S skins. Right beside it are M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S, only slightly dearer, and M4A1-S | Nitro, almost a third dearer. M4A1-S | Electrum and M4A1-S | Glitched Paint cost three times as much, M4A1-S | Liquidation more than five times, and M4A1-S | Icarus Fell is hundreds of times dearer.
Getting the M4A1-S | Night Terror
The skin belongs to the Dreams & Nightmares Case, together with the collection of the same name. A trade-up delivers it too: the input is ten Mil-Spec skins from this collection. The skin can also go into the next trade-up, where ten Restricted skins yield one Classified skin, for example MP7 | Abyssal Apparition.
StatTrak and Souvenir
A StatTrak version of the M4A1-S | Night Terror exists. No Souvenir Packages were released for the finish, because those were made only for tournament map collections. But you can build a Souvenir copy yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why a single Souvenir copy turns up now and then even where no package ever existed.
Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Night Terror
There is little free room, since the artwork runs the whole length of the rifle. Black and white stickers work best: they read against the red marks, while red ones get lost. The stock and suppressor are gray and nearly empty, so they take stickers better than the other parts. Small logos disappear among the scrawls, so for a craft choose large, simple stickers.
Who this wear suits
Buying the M4A1-S | Night Terror in Minimal Wear makes sense in three cases:
- you want the red artwork nearly intact but do not want to pay twice as much for Factory New;
- the rifle is going into a red loadout for CS2 on the Counter-Terrorist side;
- you want the kill-counter version, and a suitable float lies in the 0.07 to 0.15 band.
In price, Minimal Wear sits closer to the worn wears than to Factory New, and the choice between them comes down to how the edges look.
