The M4A1-S | Nitro in Field-Tested (FT) is the cheapest way into this finish. Floats run from 0.15 to 0.38. The rank is Restricted, and the skin belongs to The Safehouse Collection.
What the M4A1-S | Nitro looks like in Field-Tested
The rifle is not repainted: suppressor, handguard, receiver, magazine, grip and stock keep their factory olive gray. Bright orange goes on in separate patches. They cover the barrel between handguard and suppressor, the gas block, the area around the forward assist and charging handle, the magazine release and the trigger. One more orange stroke lands on the side of the receiver and on the carry handle. The finish carries no lettering, numbers or shapes.
Paint sits exactly where hands and edges rub, so in Field-Tested the small parts are already giving way. The charging handle, forward assist, magazine release and trigger lighten first. The long orange run on the barrel stays solid through it, being the one large painted area. The gray base does not visibly change, so wear registers only as orange that has gone.
Where the M4A1-S | Nitro came from
Valve drew the M4A1-S | Nitro, and no Steam Workshop submission sits behind it. The treatment is as simple as it gets: flat fill over the parts as they come, no gradients, no graphics. The Safehouse Collection entered the game on November 27, 2013, and the finish is number 254 in the catalog.
The set turns up in much later notes as well. In the update of January 21, 2026 Valve took Safehouse off the weekly care package list, along with three other collections.
What to check before buying
On the M4A1-S | Nitro it pays to compare:
- the float, since at 0.15 the orange details are still whole and at 0.38 all of them have paled;
- the condition of the charging handle and the magazine release, where paint leaves earliest;
- any stickers and name tag the previous owner applied to this rifle.
The 0.15–0.38 band is wide: one wear label, many conditions. Copies differ only in how worn they are, because they share a single pattern.
What the M4A1-S | Nitro costs in Field-Tested
Factory New asks twenty-odd times as much, and the gap comes from the width of the segment rather than from looks. The clean grade holds one hundredth of the scale. Minimal Wear runs about two and a third times higher. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred sit at the same few cents as Field-Tested, so the order among those three tells you nothing about the skin.
Among Restricted M4A1-S finishes this one is the cheapest of ten in this wear. M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S asks very nearly the same, and M4A1-S | Night Terror about a third more. M4A1-S | Liquidation costs four and a half times over, M4A1-S | Basilisk sixteen.
Getting the M4A1-S | Nitro
Ordinary copies dropped from The Safehouse Collection, and Souvenir ones came from the DreamHack 2013 and EMS One 2014 packages. Ten skins a step below in this set trade up into the M4A1-S | Nitro.
StatTrak and Souvenir
No StatTrak version of the M4A1-S | Nitro was ever issued; the Souvenir variant exists.
Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Nitro
The handguard, the stock and the left side of the receiver take a CS2 craft well, since factory gray lies there as an even field. Cool bright colors stand out on it better than warm ones, because orange and red stickers only echo the tangerine parts.
Who this wear suits
Taking the M4A1-S | Nitro in Field-Tested is reasonable when:
- a cheap Restricted rifle is wanted for CS2 rather than a display piece;
- there is something to choose inside 0.15–0.38, where the two ends of the segment look different;
- the small orange parts are expendable and the big barrel section, intact here, is what counts.
An untouched charging handle and magazine release mean moving up to Minimal Wear.
