M4A1-S | Solitude (Field-Tested)

Field-Tested (FT) is the middle of the M4A1-S | Solitude wear scale. The body carries a mountain relief in blue contour lines, like a topographic map. Float here runs from 0.15 to 0.38, about a third of the whole scale. The rank is Classified, and no case contains the rifle: it reached the game through the Armory, as a limited offer bought with credits.

What the M4A1-S | Solitude looks like in Field-Tested

Layered ridges cross the body like a cut through a mountain range, and scuffing hides among them. Contour lines cover the receiver and handguard; the suppressor stays almost clean. The base tone is cold, blue going gray, so rubbed paint does not announce itself. To about 0.22 the drawing reads as whole. Closer to 0.38 the lines tear along the edges and on the magazine, and light bare metal shows through. The pattern index decides how the relief falls, so two listings at one float can carry different drawings; the screenshot shows it.

What to check before buying

Three things separate one M4A1-S | Solitude listing from another:

• float: the closer to 0.15, the more intact the contour lines;

• the drawing: the pattern index moves the lines, so read the screenshot and not only the number;

• The applied name and the stickers that came with the listing — on a gun this cheap they can outvalue it.

A copy at 0.15 and one at 0.38 look nothing alike, though the label on both says the same wear.

What the M4A1-S | Solitude costs in Field-Tested

Set against the other wears:

• Factory New asks roughly eight times as much;

• Minimal Wear about two and a half times;

• Well-Worn costs more while looking worse, its band being only 0.38 to 0.45;

• Battle-Scarred is cheaper, though not by much.

That makes Field-Tested the value point of the five: only the most beaten wear comes in below, and the gap in looks is plain.

The same finish on another model

The mountain relief also appears on the XM1014 | Solitude. Same drawing, a rank lower, and through the middle wears the shotgun costs less than the rifle. Side by side they make a matched pair in one color range.

Getting the M4A1-S | Solitude

No case drops this rifle. It came through the Armory, where Prime accounts gather credits from match experience and spend them on the catalog. Solitude stood there as a limited offer.

Limited positions leave the rotation, so credits no longer buy the skin. A contract is no help either: contracts are assembled inside a collection, and this finish belongs to none. That leaves a finished listing, though float choice inside Field-Tested is wider here than in any other wear.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Solitude

No StatTrak version of the M4A1-S | Solitude was ever released. Souvenir copies do turn up, but no Souvenir packages were made for this finish: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

The cold blue ground is an easy base for a craft: white, light blue and yellow stickers read cleanly on it. Warm reds and oranges argue with the contour drawing. In Field-Tested the body is not yet rubbed, so stickers sit neatly, though an expensive craft on a cheap skin rarely pays for itself.

Who this wear suits

Buy the M4A1-S | Solitude in this wear if:

• you want an inexpensive M4 for CS2 matches with a drawing people recognize;

• you want room to pick, the Field-Tested band stretching from 0.15 to 0.38;

• you want to choose the drawing itself, since the pattern index changes the picture here.

One drawback: near the top of the band the contour lines tear and the rifle reads as dirty. Take the lower half, between 0.15 and 0.22.
