Description

The M4A4 | Buzz Kill in Factory New (FN) is the orange rifle at full paint saturation, with the yellow ring at the muzzle still whole. The float band for the M4A4 | Buzz Kill in this wear is 0.00 to 0.07, a tenth of the finish's scale, which stops at 0.70. It is Covert rank; the finish sits in the Glove Case, and its collection is the Glove Collection.

What the M4A4 | Buzz Kill looks like in Factory New

The palette is laid out across three materials. The orange field with yellow edges covers the receiver, the stock and the rear of the handguard; the middle of the handguard and the gas block are black; the magazine and pistol grip are olive green. A yellow ring sits at the muzzle, and the sights are left gray. Small technical lettering and marks run along the side of the receiver and the stock, and a thin pale ornament lies on the magazine.

In Factory New none of these areas is touched. The receiver edges hold their yellow, the heel of the stock is even, and the muzzle ring is whole all the way around. Those three places give way first once the float climbs past 0.07, and they are how the clean wear is told from the next one down.

Where the M4A4 | Buzz Kill came from

The finish's author is DasDas, and the work reached the game through the Steam Workshop. The M4A4 | Buzz Kill appeared in the game on November 28, 2016. It came with the Glove Case Skins update, and in Valve's skin catalog it is number 632.

What to check before buying

Between listings of the M4A4 | Buzz Kill, compare these:

  • the float: near the 0.07 upper bound the yellow edges of the receiver begin to gray;

  • the state of the ring at the muzzle, which gives out sooner than other areas;

  • stickers on the body of the M4A4 | Buzz Kill and a name tag, if there is one.

You cannot choose an M4A4 | Buzz Kill by pattern, since it is the same on every listing. In this wear the band is a short 0.00 to 0.07, so chasing a number is pointless.

What the M4A4 | Buzz Kill costs in Factory New

Factory New is the dearest of the skin's five wears. The others, relative to it:

  • Minimal Wear is almost half the price;

  • Field-Tested is exactly half the price;

  • Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are about two and a quarter times cheaper.

The step from the clean wear to Minimal Wear is almost twofold, while the three scuffed wears differ among themselves by less than a tenth of the price.

Of thirteen Covert M4A4 skins with a price in this wear, the Buzz Kill is third by price. Only the M4A4 | The Coalition, by more than double, and the M4A4 | Eye of Horus, by about a third, cost more. The nearest below, the M4A4 | The Emperor, trails by about half. The cheap end of the rank, the M4A4 | Desert-Strike and the M4A4 | The Battlestar, sits about seven times lower.

Getting the M4A4 | Buzz Kill

The first route is the Glove Case: the finish has been in it since release. The alternative to buying is a trade-up: ten skins of the next rank down from the same set make an M4A4 | Buzz Kill. The Glove Collection has two Covert finishes, this rifle and the SSG 08 | Dragonfire, so the chance of landing the one you want is one in two.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | Buzz Kill

The M4A4 | Buzz Kill has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were ever made for this finish, because packages only ever covered tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can still be built by hand. The Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory. That is why the odd souvenir copy turns up where no package was ever made.

The quiet areas work for a craft on this finish: the olive magazine, the black middle of the handguard and the top of the receiver. On the bright orange field a sticker reads as a patch, and the small lettering on the side is not normally covered, since it is part of the design. In the clean wear the paint is chipped nowhere, so a sticker lies flat across its whole area.

Who this wear suits

Factory New makes sense for the M4A4 | Buzz Kill under these conditions:

  • you want the orange at full saturation and the muzzle ring whole;

  • the rifle goes to the CS2 inventory for inspection, not into daily play;

  • a nearly twofold premium over Minimal Wear is acceptable.

For playing CS2, the middle of the scale is the better value: at range orange and olive look the same at any float. The clean wear is justified where the rifle is looked at up close.
