Description

The M4A4 | Converter in Field-Tested (FT) is the cheapest of this finish's four grades. The float band runs from 0.15 to 0.38, and the skin's own scale stops at 0.40, so no Battle-Scarred version exists. The rank is Mil-Spec, and the set is The 2018 Inferno Collection, one of the map collections in CS2.

What the M4A4 | Converter looks like in Field-Tested

The base is steel gray with a sand cast, and over it lies a dark gray honeycomb of hexagons. Some cells are filled bright red, with red spatter thrown around them. The front sight, rear sight and pistol grip are painted red as well, the grip in full, with no inserts. The stock stays gray, and the barrel and muzzle brake are left bare.

The honeycomb covers the handguard, both halves of the receiver and the magazine; the stock and buffer tube fall outside the mesh. There is no separate figure in the art — the hexagonal grid is the whole of it, and it packs tightest on the lower receiver. In Field-Tested the red leaves the raised sights and the ridges of the grip first. Then the thin cell lines tear on the ribbed handguard. The flat sides of the magazine and receiver hold the drawing longest.

Where the M4A4 | Converter came from

No Steam Workshop submission stands behind this finish: Valve drew the hydrographic itself, as it did for the rest of the map collections. The release date is September 3, 2018, and the catalog number for the finish is 793. Valve published no separate note about the set; the collection arrived together with the souvenir packages for the London Major that year.

What to check before buying

A few points are worth going through before buying the M4A4 | Converter:

  • the float, since the band is long and the red on the sights is already knocked off near the top;

  • the stickers and name tag the previous owner left on the rifle;

  • whether the listing is an ordinary copy or a Souvenir one, which is priced on its own level.

The drawing does roll: hydrographic film lands on the body differently each time, so the red cells sit in different places on two copies. No lucky pattern numbers are singled out, and where the honeycomb falls has no effect on price.

What the M4A4 | Converter costs in Field-Tested

The finish comes in four grades, and this is the cheapest of them:

  • Factory New asks about two and a half times as much;

  • Minimal Wear about half again;

  • Well-Worn roughly the same premium, though it looks worse.

The truncated scale explains that: Well-Worn gets only the stretch from 0.38 to 0.40, more than ten times narrower. Nine Mil-Spec M4A4 finishes carry a price in this grade, and the Converter stands sixth of the nine counting up. M4A4 | Magnesium and M4A4 | Dark Operative sit a little below it. M4A4 | Poly Mag and M4A4 | Choppa go for several times less. Only M4A4 | Faded Zebra, M4A4 | Global Offensive and M4A4 | Radiation Hazard ask more.

Getting the M4A4 | Converter

No ordinary case ever held this finish. The rifle comes from the 2018 edition of the Inferno map collection, and souvenir copies were handed out in the packages for the London Major.

A contract will also build it: ten Industrial Grade skins from the same collection return one Mil-Spec skin. The set holds four Mil-Spec finishes, so the chance of landing the Converter itself is one in four.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The M4A4 | Converter never got a StatTrak version. A Souvenir edition of it does exist.

Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | Converter

The honeycomb is quiet and argues with almost nothing, but a small logo disappears inside it. Large white and yellow stickers read best, while red ones blend into the filled cells. The even fields for a craft are the stock and the side of the receiver above the magazine.

Who this wear suits

Buying the M4A4 | Converter in Field-Tested makes sense in these cases:

  • an inexpensive M4 in a gray and red range is wanted for CS2;

  • the loadout is built around a red accent on the counter-terrorist side;

  • a particular float between 0.15 and 0.38 is needed.

The argument against: up close the honeycomb looks modest, and in screenshots it loses to finishes with real artwork. In a loadout, though, this mesh never pulls attention away from the rest.
