M4A4 | Dark Operative (Field-Tested)

M4A4 | Dark Operative in Field-Tested (FT) is a CS2 rifle for the Counter-Terrorists, painted in a matte graphite finish with white graphics. It has the Mil-Spec rank, belongs to the Spy Tech Collection, and no case contains it. The finish has a float from 0.00 to 1.00, and Field-Tested takes 23% of that scale. For this wear the M4A4 | Dark Operative has a float of 0.15 to 0.38.

What the M4A4 | Dark Operative looks like in Field-Tested

The main color is a matte black-graphite, and the metal parts are silvery gray. Thin white drawings lie over it: a round emblem on the receiver above the magazine and small graphics along the handguard. The magazine is gray, and the stock and the grip are black, with texturing.

Valve's description is the same: matte black and silver with white graphic design. In Field-Tested the marks of wear are already there, but the white graphics stay readable. Wear is recorded at the drop and does not change over time.

Where the M4A4 | Dark Operative came from

The Spy Tech Collection came out on July 8, 2026, and the M4A4 | Dark Operative has been part of the set since release. According to Valve's note, the two new weapon collections, Spy Tech and Arabesque, followed the Call to Arms announcement to the community and opened in the Armory.

What to check before buying

Before buying the M4A4 | Dark Operative, check the following:

• float: the band from 0.15 to 0.38 holds tidy copies and clearly worn ones;

• name tag and stickers that this M4A4 | Dark Operative already carries;

• the wear in the listing title: the top wear costs many times more.

There is no pattern roll on the M4A4 | Dark Operative, since every copy is the same. Look for it by the number and not by the wear label, because the band from 0.15 to 0.38 is wide.

What the M4A4 | Dark Operative costs in Field-Tested

Factory New costs 19.84 times as much and Minimal Wear 3.13 times as much. Well-Worn is cheaper by a factor of 1.07, and Battle-Scarred by 1.55.

Among Mil-Spec M4A4 skins, this one in Field-Tested lies closer to the cheap edge. Poly Mag, Choppa and Zubastick are cheaper, Magnesium costs a third more, and Converter one and a half times as much. The highest are Faded Zebra, Global Offensive and Radiation Hazard.

Getting the M4A4 | Dark Operative

The M4A4 | Dark Operative does not drop from cases, because Valve added the collection to the Armory. A second road to it is a contract of ten skins one rank lower. As an input for a contract toward the next rank, it is the cheapest skin in the collection.

StatTrak and Souvenir

A StatTrak version of the M4A4 | Dark Operative was never released. There were no Souvenir packages for this finish either, because they were made only for tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can still be built by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why single souvenir copies now and then turn up even where no packages ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | Dark Operative

The dark matte base holds stickers well: light and contrasting ones read at once, while the white graphics of the finish stay in the background. Colorful stickers argue with the restrained design, so restrained ones work better: white, silver and black.

Who this wear suits

This wear of the M4A4 | Dark Operative makes sense when:

• you want a dark, strict M4A4 with no bright spots, and light scuffing of the metal does not bother you;

• your CS2 loadout is built from black and silver;

• paying almost twenty times as much for Factory New is not justified.
