The M4A4 | Neo-Noir in Field-Tested (FT) is the wear at which the black outlines of the artwork start to tear. The float in this wear runs from 0.15 to 0.38. The skin is Covert and drops from the Clutch Case. The Clutch Collection arrived in the game on February 14, 2018.
What the M4A4 | Neo-Noir looks like in Field-Tested
The palette is pink and turquoise, not violet like the version of the same series on the sniper rifle. The side of the receiver is raspberry pink, with a face at the magwell and pink-and-white hair. The stock is white-pink with turquoise swirls, and the handguard is gray-white with blue. The front end with the barrel and the carry-handle rail are left as dark metal, and a turquoise ring sits at the muzzle. The folding front sight is painted white and stands out against the dark background.
In the author's own words, the girl on this version is armed with a sword and carries a scar from earlier scuffles. In Field-Tested the pink fills of the face on the flat panel still hold, but the black outlines along the edges tear and the portrait loses its crispness. The thin turquoise lines at the muzzle and on the stock go first, then the handguard edges and the rim of the receiver side by the ejection port.
Where the M4A4 | Neo-Noir came from
donschi put the submission into the Workshop on October 17, 2017, under the working title "M4A4_Neo-Noir". He wrote outright why he took the job: the M4A1-S version had drawn a lot of feedback, and the community asked for the same finish on the M4A4. The finish number in Valve's catalog is 695, which means that in the game this artwork is older than the variant on the AWP.
What to check before buying
When choosing a listing of the M4A4 | Neo-Noir, this is what counts:
- the float, which decides whether the black outlines of the face are intact;
- the state of the turquoise swirls on the stock and the handguard edges;
- what the previous owner left on the M4A4 | Neo-Noir: stickers and a name tag.
The same artwork is applied to every copy. The float matters more than the label here, because the span of 0.15 to 0.38 holds a range of looks.
What the M4A4 | Neo-Noir costs in Field-Tested
The gaps between wears on this rifle are sharp. Factory New costs almost three times as much, and Minimal Wear one and a half times as much. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred sit level with Field-Tested, within a few percent. The scale runs to 0.90, so the most worn wear takes the long stretch from 0.45 to 0.90.
Among Covert M4A4 skins this one is third from the bottom: only the M4A4 | The Battlestar and M4A4 | Temukau are cheaper. The M4A4 | Desert-Strike and M4A4 | In Living Color cost about the same, while the M4A4 | Full Throttle is noticeably pricier. The M4A4 | The Coalition, M4A4 | Buzz Kill and M4A4 | Eye of Horus move into another price class.
Getting the M4A4 | Neo-Noir
The Clutch Case gives this finish directly, and no other case ever carried it. Besides the case there is a trade-up: ten skins one rank down from this collection yield the M4A4 | Neo-Noir. The skins that go in are AUG | Stymphalian, AWP | Mortis and USP-S | Cortex. The set has two Covert items, so the odds are one in two.
Beyond that, the rank does not lead to knives. The rare special items of the Clutch Collection are gloves: Driver Gloves, Hand Wraps, Hydra Gloves, Moto Gloves, Specialist Gloves and Sport Gloves.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The M4A4 | Neo-Noir has a StatTrak version. Souvenir packages for this finish were never made, since they existed only for tournament map collections. Even so, you can build a Souvenir copy yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. This is why the odd Souvenir copy turns up now and then where no packages ever existed.
Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | Neo-Noir
The pink ground narrows the choice: black and white stickers read well on it, while warm reds and oranges fight with the raspberry. Turquoise and light blue ones pick up the swirls on the stock. The side with the face is crowded already and a sticker disappears there, but the handguard and magazine stay free in CS2.
Who this wear suits
Field-Tested is a sensible choice for the M4A4 | Neo-Noir when:
- you want a pink-and-turquoise rifle for CS2 without paying almost three times as much;
- losing crispness in the outlines of the portrait does not bother you;
- you can pick a float closer to 0.15.
If you want the portrait in detail, look at Minimal Wear. The black lines are intact along their whole length there, and you pay one and a half times more, not three.
