M4A4 | The Coalition (Battle-Scarred)

The M4A4 | The Coalition in Battle-Scarred (BS) is a Covert from the 2021 Train Collection and the cheapest of the skin's five wears. Its float scale runs from 0.45 to 1.00, which is more than half of the entire scale.

What the M4A4 | The Coalition looks like in Battle-Scarred

A gold geometric ornament lies on a black body. Large yellow diamonds are laid out on the receiver and the lower part of the magazine, and a honeycomb mesh covers the top of the receiver. Gold lines outline the handguard around a small blue insert, and the stock has a gold plate. Valve's own description of the finish: gold and black paint, interlocking triangles, blue accents.

In Battle-Scarred the gold is rubbed off the edges more than in any other wear, with gray patches on the magazine diamonds and on the stock plate. The black base holds its shape, so the geometry stays readable even on a heavily scuffed copy.

What to check before buying

For this skin in Battle-Scarred, the points to compare between listings are:

• float: the closer to 0.45, the better the gold is preserved, and toward the top of the scale there is more scuffing;


• name tag and stickers: on the M4A4 | The Coalition they come with the listing.

The float runs from 0.45 to 1.00, and listings from opposite ends of that span look different. The pattern does not vary on the M4A4 | The Coalition, so it plays no part in the choice.

The other wears, measured against this one:

Neither cases nor Souvenir packages contain this skin. The way to it is a trade-up: ten skins from the rank below, all from one collection, go into the contract. The skin appeared in September 2021, when the 2021 Train Collection was added to the game.

StatTrak and Souvenir

No StatTrak copies of the M4A4 | The Coalition exist. There are no Souvenir packages for the finish, because Souvenir packages were made only for tournament map collections. A Souvenir copy is something you build yourself in the Souvenir-O-Matic, which adds gold tournament stickers and a player's autograph to a regular skin.

Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | The Coalition

Gold on black gives the skin two colors, and stickers gain the most from a third. Red and white stickers separate from the artwork, while yellow ones echo the diamonds. The free space is the black lower part of the handguard and the textured grip.

Who this wear suits

Battle-Scarred makes sense under these conditions:

• you want a gold-and-black Covert M4A4 at the lowest price of the five wears;


• worn gold on the diamonds does not bother you;


• in a listing, the float number decides for you, not the wear label.

In CS2 this is a question of looks only: a scuffed M4A4 shoots the same as a new one.
