MAG-7 | Insomnia (Factory New)

The MAG-7 | Insomnia in Factory New (FN) is an orange-and-black shotgun with hand-drawn fish and a face on the side panel. It is Mil-Spec rank, from The Revolution Collection, and drops from the Revolution Case. The finish exists in all five wears.

What the MAG-7 | Insomnia looks like in Factory New

The top of the receiver and the barrel shroud are flooded with orange-red paint, and the lower part of the body is black. On the black field is a drawn face with an open mouth, and orange fish swim around it in the manner of a pencil sketch. A few more fish descend along the magazine.

Valve describes the scene this way: fish swim into a person's mouth, and the palette is orange with black. Factory New for this skin is the band between 0.00 and 0.07. FN takes 7% of the skin's scale, which runs from 0.00 to 1.00.

Where the MAG-7 | Insomnia came from

The finish's authors are chipAs and Hoshi. Their submission "MAG-7 Insomnia" went up on the Steam Workshop on October 16, 2021. The submission's description is short: "This is just the beginning..".

The Revolution Collection came out on February 9, 2023, and the skin has been in the set since release. According to Valve's note, the case holds seventeen finishes by community authors, and its rare items are the gloves from the Clutch Case. In Valve's catalog the finish is number 1220.

What to check before buying

When choosing a MAG-7 | Insomnia, this matters:

• the float: only values from 0.00 to 0.07 are possible;


• the name tag and stickers already on this MAG-7 | Insomnia;


• the version: StatTrak™ is a separate product, not a variant of this lot.

From lot to lot, the pattern comes out identical. Float offers little to choose by, because the 0.00 to 0.07 stretch is short.

What the MAG-7 | Insomnia costs in Factory New

The other wears cost less:

• Minimal Wear: over three times cheaper;


• Field-Tested: over two times cheaper;


• Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred cost the same as Field-Tested.

Among Mil-Spec MAG-7s in Factory New the skin sits near the bottom of the row. Only MAG-7 | Foresight is cheaper, and MAG-7 | Resupply is level with it.

MAG-7 | Heaven Guard, MAG-7 | MAGnitude and MAG-7 | Popdog cost more. The top of the row, MAG-7 | Counter Terrace, costs hundreds of times as much.

Getting the MAG-7 | Insomnia

The skin drops from the Revolution Case. A trade-up does not produce it: Mil-Spec is the lowest rank of the collection, and a trade-up only hands out the rank above what was put in.

As an input it works well: ten Mil-Spec skins from the collection give one Restricted, for example M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S or P90 | Neoqueen.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The MAG-7 | Insomnia has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish also exist, but no sets were ever issued for it, since they were made only for tournament map collections. Such copies are assembled through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from the inventory.

The black lower part gives contrast, while the orange top is taken up by paint. White and yellow stickers read on the black field, and next to the fish, red and orange ones clash.

Who this wear suits

Buying the MAG-7 | Insomnia here makes sense if:

• you want a shotgun for CS2 on the Counter-Terrorist side, with drawn graphics and untouched paint;


• a price close to the lower wears matters, even though the paint on Factory New is intact;


• you are building a loadout in orange and black.
