Description

The MP9 | Broken Record in Factory New (FN) has a dark body with grooves like those of a vinyl record, and an untouched label on the side. In this wear its range lies between 0.00 and 0.07. It is a Mil-Spec skin from the Genesis Collection.

What the MP9 | Broken Record looks like in Factory New

The base is graphite gray with a greenish cast, and the finest grooves run the length of the body. That is the "record": Valve writes that the weapon is painted to look like vinyl, grooves and all. A round cream-and-gold label with the letter K sits on the side of the receiver, and a golden ring is fitted at the end of the foregrip.

In Factory New the paint is even: the grooves read sharply, the label is bright and the gold of the ring is untouched. A dark ground hides dust better than light finishes do, but the crispness of the grooves can only be judged on a clean copy. Valve adds two words to the description: "instant classic".

Where the MP9 | Broken Record came from

The MP9 | Broken Record appeared on September 16, 2025, when the Genesis Collection was added to the game. Valve presented it as seventeen finishes by community authors and opened access to them through terminals. The next day, players in Belgium, the Netherlands and France were allowed to open the terminals.

What to check before buying

Before paying for an MP9 | Broken Record, it helps to check:

  • float: the band is narrow, so on any listing the paint is practically untouched;

  • the crispness of the grooves and the brightness of the label on the side of the receiver;

  • name tag and stickers: on the MP9 | Broken Record they stay on the listing.

The pattern on the MP9 | Broken Record is fixed and does not depend on the copy. The 0.00 to 0.07 stretch is short, so the difference between listings falls within the margin of error.

What the MP9 | Broken Record costs in Factory New

The other wears are cheaper than this one by:

  • Minimal Wear: more than three times;

  • Battle-Scarred: more than five times;

  • Well-Worn: almost six times;

  • Field-Tested: more than six times.

The skin has a full scale, from 0 to 1, and Factory New takes seven percent of it. The three lower wears sit close to one another: they differ by no more than a fifth.

Among Mil-Spec MP9 finishes at this wear, the skin is fifth of eighteen counting up. Right above it come Nexus, Cobalt Paisley and Black Sand; below it are Bioleak and one more finish. The top of the rank is far away: Dark Age, Pandora's Box and Hot Rod cost more than a hundred times as much.

Getting the MP9 | Broken Record

The MP9 | Broken Record drops from the Sealed Genesis Terminal, and no other case holds the finish.

A contract cannot produce the skin: Mil-Spec is the bottom rank of the Genesis Collection, and nothing lies below it. The skin does work as an input, though: ten Mil-Spec skins from the collection give one Restricted, for example Dual Berettas | Angel Eyes or M4A1-S | Liquidation. There are five of them in all.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the MP9 | Broken Record

The MP9 | Broken Record has a StatTrak version. No souvenir packages were released for this finish: those were made only for the tournament map collections. But a souvenir copy can be built by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a regular skin from the inventory. That is why a few souvenir copies turn up now and then, even where no packages ever existed.

A dark body takes light and bright stickers well: white, yellow and red read at once. The golden label clashes with yellow stickers, and the grooves are best left uncovered, since the resemblance to a record depends on them. For a craft in CS2 the stock and the magazine are free.

Who this wear suits

The MP9 | Broken Record in Factory New makes sense in three cases:

  • you want the untouched "vinyl" pattern with crisp grooves;

  • you want stability: the float lies in a band of seven hundredths;

  • the MP9 goes into a Counter-Terrorist loadout in CS2.

If only looks matter, Minimal Wear will do: it costs more than three times less, and the dark ground nearly hides the wear.
