Description

MP9 | Buff Blue in Minimal Wear (MW): the blue plastic is still glossy, and wear is only starting to show. This grade covers floats from 0.07 to 0.15, which is 11% of the skin's range, and that range runs all the way to 0.70. The rank is Consumer Grade, the collection is The Ascent Collection, and no case holds it.

What the MP9 | Buff Blue looks like in Minimal Wear

The receiver, both grips and the magazine are painted a saturated blue with sparse lighter swirls. The rear stock post shifts toward blue-violet, and the underside of the magazine is darker. Barrel, muzzle end, upper rails and screws were never painted, so they stay olive-brass.

There is no lettering and no graphic anywhere. What carries the skin is contrast: blue plastic set against brass metal. In Minimal Wear the checkering on the grips dulls first, followed by the receiver edges near the ejection port. The big flat sides of the receiver stay blue, and the metal shows no wear at all. A copy receives its wear when it drops and does not change afterward.

Where the MP9 | Buff Blue came from

Valve drew this one itself, and there is no Steam Workshop submission behind it. It appeared on March 31, 2025, together with The Ascent Collection. Its number in the Valve catalog is 1278.

What to check before buying

Choosing a specific MP9 | Buff Blue comes down to these points:

  • float: the 0.07 to 0.15 band is short, and the two ends of it are barely distinguishable;

  • the state of the checkering on the foregrip and the pistol grip;

  • the name tag and stickers this MP9 | Buff Blue already carries.

Because the stretch from 0.07 to 0.15 is so short, differences between listings fall within the margin of error.

Pattern variance on the MP9 | Buff Blue

The pattern is left to chance. The Spray-Paint technique lays the paint on with an offset, so copies differ in where the lighter swirls fall on the plastic. No rare named variants have been singled out, which makes variance a matter of taste: the listing page shows exactly how a given copy looks.

What the MP9 | Buff Blue costs in Minimal Wear

Price order here does not follow wear order. Measured against Minimal Wear:

  • Factory New and Field-Tested are cheaper by about 1.2 times;

  • Well-Worn costs about 1.2 times more;

  • Battle-Scarred is cheaper by about seven times.

Among the eleven Consumer Grade MP9 finishes in Minimal Wear, this one sits in the upper half: six cost less and four cost more.

Getting the MP9 | Buff Blue

No case contains it. Copies are handed out by the weekly playtime reward, and The Ascent Collection is on its list. A contract cannot produce the skin, since Consumer Grade is the lowest rank in the set. Going the other way, ten of these skins in a contract return one of nine Industrial Grade skins.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Valve never released a StatTrak version of the MP9 | Buff Blue. Souvenir copies do turn up, even though there were no souvenir packages for this skin: those were made only for tournament map collections. Such copies are put together through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to an ordinary skin from your inventory.

Stickers and craft on the MP9 | Buff Blue

A blue body with no artwork makes a clean backdrop: a sticker sits on one uniform surface, and nothing busy ripples beside it. Yellow, white and orange designs read best. Dark blue and purple stickers merge into the plastic.

Who this wear suits

Minimal Wear is the right pick for the MP9 | Buff Blue under these conditions:

  • you want a vivid blue SMG for CS2 whose gloss still holds;

  • you need an even, single-color base for a CS2 build;

  • you want light wear without sliding into the worn grades.

For the lowest price, look at Battle-Scarred.
