The MP9 | Hydra in Field-Tested (FT) is an acid-green submachine gun with black thorned shoots across the body, sitting mid-scale on wear. The scale for this wear on the MP9 | Hydra runs from 0.15 to 0.38, which is 23 percent of the finish's own 0.00 to 1.00 scale. It is a Classified skin in The CS20 Collection.
What the MP9 | Hydra looks like in Field-Tested
The body is flooded with toxic green, black winding shoots with thorns run over it, and the word HYDRA reads along the top rail. The grip and stock are black, and the grip has a textured, scaly checkering. The magazine is translucent and light green. A small red insert shows near the top rail.
In Field-Tested the bright fill is still there, but scratches and scuffs already show along the edges of the body and the corners of the magazine. The shoots are high-contrast, so even small scuffs are noticeable against them.
Where the MP9 | Hydra came from
The MP9 | Hydra appeared on October 14, 2019, when The CS20 Collection was added to the game. Valve calls the finish a nod to Operation Hydra, the eighth CS:GO operation.
What to check before buying
Choosing a particular MP9 | Hydra comes down to these points:
- float: the 0.15 to 0.38 band holds both nearly clean listings and clearly scuffed ones;
- the edges of the body and the end of the translucent magazine, where wear shows best;
- a name tag and stickers already on the copy, which carry over with the listing.
There is no point hunting the MP9 | Hydra by pattern index, since the design does not change. Between 0.15 and 0.38, though, there is room for a difference that makes comparing several listings worthwhile.
What the MP9 | Hydra costs in Field-Tested
The other wears, measured against this one:
- Factory New runs past seven times the price;
- Minimal Wear costs almost twice as much;
- Well-Worn is cheaper by a fifth;
- Battle-Scarred is cheaper by about a quarter.
Among Classified MP9s in this wear the skin comes second from the bottom. Only the MP9 | Food Chain is cheaper; above it stand the MP9 | Latte Rush and the MP9 | Airlock, and at the very top is the MP9 | Wild Lily.
Getting the MP9 | Hydra
The skin drops from the CS20 Case. A second road to the MP9 | Hydra is a contract of ten skins one rank lower; the more skins of this collection go in, the likelier the MP9 | Hydra is to come out.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The MP9 | Hydra has a StatTrak version, while no Souvenir packages were released for this finish.
Stickers and craft on the MP9 | Hydra
The green base is saturated and the black shoots make a dense design, so stickers read best on the clean areas. Those are the side panel next to the rail and the black stock. Dark stickers on the black grip melt into the background, while light and warm ones read more distinctly.
Who this wear suits
Field-Tested on the MP9 | Hydra is worth buying under these conditions:
- you want a green MP9 in CS2 with a noticeable design;
- you want to save: Factory New costs more than seven times as much;
- you want a Classified skin from The CS20 Collection with wear you can read at a glance.
If you want nearly factory paint, Minimal Wear is the closest: it costs almost twice as much.
