Description

The MP9 | Starlight Protector in Factory New (FN) has whole gold trim on its edges, and it costs more than any other wear of the skin. The float runs from 0.00 to 0.07. It is Covert rank, and the skin belongs to the Dreams & Nightmares Collection and drops from its case.

What the MP9 | Starlight Protector looks like in Factory New

The top of the receiver carries a pale pattern like marble: white with gray veining. The stock is creamy white with a gold line. The grip and magazine are dark with thin gold lines, and the magazine has a gold diamond. Gold four-point stars are scattered over the receiver and grip, and the muzzle is black with a gold ornament.

The unicorn with the rainbow mane can be seen toward the rear of the receiver. Raspberry, orange, yellow, violet and light-blue lines add up to a bright fan. In Factory New the gold trim on the edges is continuous and the marble is clean, with no gray scuffs.

Where the MP9 | Starlight Protector came from

The finish's author, TheDanidem, worked under the influence of Art Deco, in both the artwork and the styling. By his account, the unicorn's mane owes a lot to Alphonse Mucha. The "MP9 :: Starlight" submission appeared in the Workshop on October 20, 2021.

The MP9 | Starlight Protector reached the game on January 21, 2022. In its note on the Dreams & Nightmares Case, Valve wrote about seventeen finishes from the Workshop. Its number in Valve's catalog is 1134.

What to check before buying

Before paying for an MP9 | Starlight Protector, look at these:

  • float: within 0.00 to 0.07 the difference in looks is minimal;

  • whether the MP9 | Starlight Protector carries stickers and a name tag.

The pattern on the MP9 | Starlight Protector is not a lottery, since all copies are identical. In this wear the band is a tight 0.00 to 0.07, where a difference between listings is hard to catch. It takes up 9% of the finish's scale.

What the MP9 | Starlight Protector costs in Factory New

Every other wear costs less:

  • Minimal Wear, by about 1.4 times;

  • Field-Tested, by about 1.5 times;

  • Well-Worn, by about 1.5 times;

  • Battle-Scarred, by about 1.6 times.

The spread between wears on this finish is small: the dearest and the cheapest differ by a little over one and a half times. There are no sharp jumps between neighboring wears.

Getting the MP9 | Starlight Protector

Besides the case, a trade-up of ten skins from the rank below gives the MP9 | Starlight Protector when they come from the same collection. The inputs include FAMAS | Rapid Eye Movement and Dual Berettas | Melondrama.

The odds of getting this skin are one in two, because the Dreams & Nightmares Collection has two Covert skins. The skin itself works as an input for a craft toward a rare special item, and the possible results include the Bowie Knife, the Falchion Knife and the Shadow Daggers.

StatTrak and Souvenir

A StatTrak version of the MP9 | Starlight Protector has been released. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up too, though no souvenir packages were issued for it: those were made only for tournament map collections. Such copies are assembled through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory.

Stickers and craft on the MP9 | Starlight Protector

The factory marble is clean, and dark stickers stand out from it without interference. The unicorn at the rear of the receiver is colorful, and a sticker should not go over it. The lower part of the grip and the stock suit a craft.

Who this wear suits

Buying the MP9 | Starlight Protector in Factory New makes sense when:

  • you want continuous gold trim and a clean marble ground;

  • the skin is going into a CS2 collection as a Covert item with Art Deco artwork;

  • you want the cleanest MP9 for CS2, and an extra one and a half times does not bother you.

Factory New is the dearest wear, but about forty percent separates it from Minimal Wear, and the artwork is the same in every wear.
