The Nova | Ocular in Minimal Wear (MW) has almost intact paint, with traces of wear only on the edges. The float band for this wear sits between 0.07 and 0.15. The skin is Restricted and belongs to The Genesis Collection. The finish exists in all five wears, and the Nova can be bought for CS2 in any of them.
What the Nova | Ocular looks like in Minimal Wear
The shotgun is blue with a teal cast, with cream fields and ridges laid over it. The outlines are rust orange and the barrel is dark. Four large oval eyes with dark pupils carry the design: one on the receiver, one on the forend and two on the stock. No single animal comes out of them, and there is no lettering.
The orange outlines and cream ridges are thin and sit on the projecting edges of the forend and stock. Wear gets to them first, while the big eyes on the flat side of the stock stay legible longest. The artwork on the Nova | Ocular is fixed and does not depend on the copy.
Where the Nova | Ocular came from
The author of the finish is Kattys. He posted the entry “Nova | Ocular (blue)” in the Steam Workshop on February 19, 2025. His pitch: a contemporary design in the spirit of abstract surrealism and twentieth-century artists. It joins simple geometric shapes with realistic details, namely expressive eyes and an ear.
The finish came out on September 16, 2025, together with The Genesis Collection, in which Valve gathered seventeen works by Workshop authors. In Valve's catalog the finish is number 1350.
What to check before buying
What to look at on a Nova | Ocular:
- the float: the band from 0.07 to 0.15 covers 8% of the scale from 0.00 to 1.00;
- scuffs on the orange outlines and cream ridges;
- the name tag and stickers this Nova | Ocular already carries.
Within 0.07 to 0.15 there is no best copy to hunt for on the Nova | Ocular: all listings of this wear look alike.
What the Nova | Ocular costs in Minimal Wear
The other wears, relative to this one:
- Factory New is almost three times dearer;
- Field-Tested is half the price;
- Well-Worn is a little over two times cheaper;
- Battle-Scarred is almost three times cheaper.
Among Restricted Novas, this finish in Minimal Wear sits in the lower part. Only the Nova | Wild Six and Nova | Rising Sun cost less, and the rest cost more, up to the Nova | Baroque Orange.
Getting the Nova | Ocular
The Nova | Ocular drops from the Sealed Genesis Terminal.
The alternative to buying is a trade-up: ten skins one rank lower give the Nova | Ocular when they come from the same set. The Genesis Collection has five Restricted skins, so the chance of this one is one in five. As an input the finish works too: ten Restricted skins from the set give one Classified, for example the AWP | Ice Coaled or MP7 | Smoking Kills.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The Nova | Ocular has a StatTrak version. Souvenir packages were never issued for this finish: they covered tournament map collections only. You can still build a souvenir yourself, though. The Souvenir-O-Matic attaches gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to a regular skin from your inventory. That is why a few souvenir copies show up even where no packages existed.
Stickers and craft on the Nova | Ocular
The artwork covers the forend, receiver and stock, so a sticker lands right on the eyes and ridges. White and dark blue stickers read clearly on the blue ground, and orange ones pick up the color of the outlines.
Who this wear suits
Buying the Nova | Ocular in Minimal Wear makes sense when:
- you want the artwork with the eyes, with wear already visible but not getting in the way of reading it;
- Factory New is almost three times dearer and Field-Tested is half the price: Minimal Wear sits between them;
- the Nova is going into CS2 matches under a build in light blue and blue tones.
If the artwork has to be free of scuffs, look at Factory New.
