SCAR-20 | Fragments (Field-Tested)

The SCAR-20 | Fragments in Field-Tested (FT) is a black Mil-Spec rifle with bronze trim, and the second most expensive wear of this skin. The wear covers floats 0.15 to 0.38. With the finish capped at 0.78, that band takes up 29% of the scale. The skin drops from the Revolution Case and belongs to the collection of the same name.

What the SCAR-20 | Fragments looks like in Field-Tested

The rifle is almost entirely black. A faceted pattern of sharp triangles covers the receiver and stock, and thin bronze lines trace the edges and seams across that dark ground. The barrel and muzzle brake are brass-colored; the scope tube is black with a golden rim.

Valve's description says the paint gives the illusion that the geometry of the weapon has changed. In Field-Tested the paint is rubbed along the edges, yet the bronze lines stay distinct against the dark ground.

Where the SCAR-20 | Fragments came from

The finish arrived in February 2023 with the Revolution Case. Valve's note of February 10, 2023 speaks of seventeen community finishes. The description carries the caption "Fragment of your imagination".

What to check before buying

Before paying for the SCAR-20 | Fragments, it is worth checking:

• the float: the 0.15 to 0.38 band is long, and its top and bottom wear differently;

• the bronze lines along the edges, which should read without breaks;

• any stickers and name tag already on this copy of the SCAR-20 | Fragments.

Nothing about the artwork changes from one copy to the next. With a band this long, comparing several listings is worth the time.

What the SCAR-20 | Fragments costs in Field-Tested

Set against this wear, the rest of the scale looks like this:

• Factory New costs about half again as much;

• Minimal Wear is about a quarter cheaper;

• Well-Worn is about an eighth cheaper;

• Battle-Scarred is about a quarter cheaper.

The skin's order is broken: Minimal Wear sells below Field-Tested, so wear and price part ways. Only Factory New stands above FT.

Among the fifteen Mil-Spec SCAR-20s in this wear, the Fragments sit second from the bottom, with only SCAR-20 | Caged cheaper. SCAR-20 | Poultrygeist and SCAR-20 | Green Marine are their neighbors. SCAR-20 | Brass and SCAR-20 | Magna Carta are the dearest of the group.

Getting the SCAR-20 | Fragments

The skin drops from the Revolution Case, and no other case carries this finish.

A trade-up cannot produce it: Mil-Spec is the bottom rank of the Revolution Case, so there is nothing below to put in. As an input, though, it works well: ten Mil-Spec skins of the collection make one Restricted, for example Glock-18 | Umbral Rabbit or M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S.

StatTrak and Souvenir

A StatTrak version of the SCAR-20 | Fragments exists. No souvenir packages were ever issued for this finish, since those were made only for the tournament map collections. Even so, a souvenir copy can be built by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why a lone souvenir copy occasionally turns up where no package ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the SCAR-20 | Fragments

A black ground with bronze suits light and golden stickers best; dark ones sink into the faceted pattern. There is free room on the stock and along the side of the butt, where the pattern is sparser.

Who this wear suits

The SCAR-20 | Fragments in Field-Tested is a sensible buy when:

• you want a SCAR-20 for CS2 in a dark loadout and have no need for Factory New at one and a half times the price;

• the bronze edges should stay legible, so you pick a listing with a float near the bottom of the band;

• you want an inexpensive way into a finish from the Revolution Case.

Minimal Wear of this skin sells about a quarter below FT, even though it is less worn.
