Battle-Scarred (BS) is the most worn version of the Covert fire Scout, the SSG 08 | Dragonfire. The float band here is 0.45 to 0.50. The skin's ceiling is 0.50, so this wear takes up 10% of the scale. It drops from the Glove Case and is available to both sides.
What the SSG 08 | Dragonfire looks like in Battle-Scarred
The forend and the front of the receiver are flooded with fiery orange and red streaks. Nearer the middle of the weapon run dark scales in black and turquoise tones, and a dragon's head can be picked out among them. The stock is orange again, while the barrel with its muzzle brake, the bipod and the scope are black.
Valve writes that the skin carries a hydrographic of a monstrous dragon breathing fire. In Battle-Scarred the orange has faded along the edges, and the black scales lighten where the paint has chipped. Wear is fixed at the drop, so it never changes on a given listing.
What to check before buying
Before taking an SSG 08 | Dragonfire, look at these points:
- float: the scale gives this wear only 0.45 to 0.50, so copies look alike;
- how well the dragon's head reads near the middle of the weapon;
- the stickers and name tag already on this particular SSG 08 | Dragonfire.
There is no choosing an SSG 08 | Dragonfire by pattern: it is identical on every listing.
What the SSG 08 | Dragonfire costs in Battle-Scarred
Measured against Battle-Scarred, the other wears cost this:
- Factory New is about 1.6 times more;
- Minimal Wear is about a sixth more;
- Field-Tested is only a few percent more;
- Well-Worn is about a ninth less.
The bottom wear on the scale is not the cheapest one here: Well-Worn costs slightly less. The three lowest wears share one narrow price band, and only Factory New breaks away from it.
Only two SSG 08 skins are Covert. In Factory New and Minimal Wear this skin costs about two and a half times what the SSG 08 | Blood in the Water does.
Getting the SSG 08 | Dragonfire
The SSG 08 | Dragonfire drops from the Glove Case; no other case has this finish. It arrived in November 2016 together with the Glove Collection. A trade-up for it consumes ten Classified skins from one collection. The chance of getting this exact skin is one in two, since there are two Covert skins in the set.
Beyond this, the collection's Covert rank leads on to a glove craft.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The SSG 08 | Dragonfire exists with StatTrak. Souvenir sets for this finish were not released; those were made only for the tournament map collections. Still, the Souvenir-O-Matic lets you make one: it places gold tournament stickers and a player's autograph on a regular inventory skin. Hence the rare Souvenir copy, even where there never were any sets.
Stickers and craft on the SSG 08 | Dragonfire
An orange palette takes cool stickers: turquoise, white and light blue ones read, while red gets lost in the flames. The black scales in the middle give a dark backdrop for light stickers. In a CS2 craft it is convenient to group stickers near the stock and leave the dragon's head clear.
Who this wear suits
This wear makes sense for the SSG 08 | Dragonfire if:
- you want a Covert Scout for CS2 with a fiery pattern and a dragon;
- paying 1.6 times as much for Factory New is not justified;
- you would rather not pick by number, since the band from 0.45 to 0.50 is short.
