SSG 08 | Green Ceramic (Factory New)

On the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic, Factory New (FN) counts for more than usual: the finish is a single flat color, and any scuff on it shows at once. Floats in this wear run from 0.00 to 0.07. It is a Consumer Grade skin, and the scout belongs to the Boreal Collection, which in CS2 is handed out without a case. The Boreal Collection was added to the game on March 31, 2025.

What the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic looks like in Factory New

The receiver, stock and handguard are filled with an even olive green, matte and without artwork. The bipod is the same color, the barrel and muzzle brake are black, and the scope body is gold-bronze, the only bright element on the rifle. There is no pattern at all: every large part is simply painted green. Factory cutouts and mounts on the body are picked out by shadow, with no lettering to be seen on them.

On a fill like this the edges of the body, the cheek rest and the grip lighten first, and in Factory New none of those areas is touched. On an even green field a scuff reads as a pale patch rather than a texture. The difference between a clean copy and the neighboring wear shows even in a preview.

Where the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic came from

The finish was made by Valve itself, with no Steam Workshop submission behind it. Valve's catalog lists it under number 1304. The update note says the Boreal Collection, along with two others, joined the list of weekly rewards. It also describes what the sets contain: more than seventy finishes, from flat single-color fills to gold relief.

What to check before buying

Before paying for an SSG 08 | Green Ceramic, check these:

• the float within 0.00 to 0.07: on a flat fill even the top of the band gives a pale edge;

• the cheek rest, where wear shows up sooner than on the body;

• the stickers and name tag the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic inherited from a previous owner.

Copies differ only in wear, since the artwork is shared. In this wear the band is a short 0.00 to 0.07, so chasing a lower number is pointless.

What the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic costs in Factory New

There is almost no price spread between wears on this scout. Minimal Wear and Field-Tested sit level with Factory New, with under three percent between them. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred cost about a third less. The whole finish is so cheap that a gap between wears is small change, not a pricing pattern.

Among Consumer Grade SSG 08s this finish is third from the bottom of nine. Only the SSG 08 | Grey Smoke and SSG 08 | Sans Comic are cheaper. The SSG 08 | Blue Spruce and SSG 08 | Prey cost about three times as much. The SSG 08 | Sand Dune, the top of the rank, costs hundreds of times more.

Getting the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic

The SSG 08 | Green Ceramic is in no case. The Boreal Collection landed on the weekly rewards list, and that is where the items come from.

A contract cannot produce this finish: in the Boreal Collection Consumer Grade is the bottom rank, and a trade-up always pays out one rank higher. The scout itself does work as a contract input, though. The set rises into the SSG 08 | Tiger Tear, the P90 | Mustard Gas and other items of a higher rank.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic

No StatTrak version of the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic was ever released. Souvenir copies do turn up, but no Souvenir packages were made for this finish: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

A blank green fill makes a handy field for a craft, because a sticker competes with no artwork on it. There is room on the body and the stock, and the color takes warm stickers and cool ones alike. The gold scope sets up a ready-made pair for yellow and bronze logos.

Who this wear suits

Factory New on the SSG 08 | Green Ceramic is a reasonable buy when:

• you want an even green fill with no pale edges;

• the scout is going under a craft, and a clean field matters more than saving money;

• the premium for wear in this rank does not register.

For play in CS2 the difference between wears here is purely cosmetic: at distance an olive body looks the same at any float.
