The StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov in Field-Tested (FT) is an AK with a kill counter. The premium for it is about one and a half times the price of the regular version. Copies of this wear carry a float from 0.15 to 0.38. The skin is Covert and comes from The Danger Zone Collection.
What the StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov looks like in Field-Tested
The finish is built on a white field with orange accents. The orange gas tube, front sight, front end of the handguard and stripes down the black magazine catch the eye first. The butt plate and grip are dark, the receiver carries angular marks, and the stock an emblem.
In Field-Tested the wear has settled on the white planes, which have darkened to gray, while the receiver and handguard edges have lost their cleanliness. The orange still reads, though the narrow stripes show a scuffed edge. Black hardly shows wear at all, so the contrast holds.
Where the StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov came from
Coridium's work sat on the Steam Workshop from December 15, 2013, under the title AK47-ASIIMOV. The author thought of the AK as the sixth finish in his Asiimov series. The work reached the game only with the Danger Zone.
The Danger Zone Collection was released on December 6, 2018, and the StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov has been part of it since launch. The finish is listed as number 801 in Valve's catalog.
What to check before buying
Before paying for a StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov, look at the following:
- the reading on the counter: it passes to the new owner unchanged and cannot be reset;
- the float: at 0.15 the white is lighter, at 0.38 the gray is more evident;
- the applied name tag and stickers, which stay on the item of a StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov.
The counter can be moved: the StatTrak Swap Tool exchanges the readings between two items of the same type, so both keep a counter. The artwork on this skin does not vary, and all copies are the same. The 0.15 to 0.38 band still leaves room to choose, since copies nearer 0.15 are cleaner.
What the StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov costs in Field-Tested
The counter version costs about one and a half times as much as the regular one in the same wear. Within the version itself the wears compare like this:
- Factory New costs more than seven times as much;
- Minimal Wear costs almost twice as much;
- Well-Worn costs about a fifth more;
- Battle-Scarred costs the same.
Among Covert StatTrak AK skins, the finish is fourth from the bottom of seventeen. Only StatTrak™ AK-47 | Head Shot, AK-47 | Legion of Anubis and AK-47 | Nightwish are cheaper. Directly above is AK-47 | Inheritance, then AK-47 | Neon Rider and AK-47 | Aquamarine Revenge, and AK-47 | Fire Serpent tops the rank.
Getting the StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov
The counter version drops from the Danger Zone Case alongside the regular one.
The second route is a contract in which all ten inputs must be StatTrak, as the game does not let regular and StatTrak skins mix. The inputs are the set's Classified skins, and it holds two Covert: this rifle and AWP | Neo-Noir, so the outcome splits in half.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The regular AK-47 | Asiimov without a counter is a separate item with its own page and price: in Field-Tested it costs about a third less. A Souvenir version with a counter does not exist, since souvenir items never carry StatTrak.
Stickers and craft on the StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov
The white field is strict with stickers: dark and navy ones show on it, orange ones blend into the stripes of the paint, and white ones are lost. The stock and handguard are free, and the receiver with its graphics is better left uncovered in CS2. On the counter version a craft deserves more care, because the reading cannot be zeroed and a sticker cannot be removed without a trace.
Who this wear suits
The StatTrak™ AK-47 | Asiimov in Field-Tested is a sensible buy when:
- a kill counter on the recognizable white AK for CS2 is the point;
- paying one and a half times the regular version does not put you off;
- you want to pick the copy with the cleanest white inside the float band.
Factory-grade cleanliness would cost seven times more. If the counter is not needed, the regular version with the same look comes in noticeably cheaper.
