Description

Minimal Wear is the cheaper of the two clean conditions on the StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl. The counter costs less to add here than at the top of the scale. This version asks roughly two thirds more than the plain rifle, where Factory New puts the gap at twofold. The rank is Contraband, and nothing else in CS2 carries it: Valve pulled the finish over a complaint about the artwork, so the run never grows. Float runs from 0.07 to 0.15.

What the StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl looks like in Minimal Wear

The body is a dark gray that passes for black. Torn red bands run over it, thickest on the handguard and the stock. A howling wolf takes the left face of the receiver: orange and yellow, red mane, jaw open. Solid red is limited to the grip and stock tube; on the barrel shroud it thins into ragged bands. The sights are dark; the muzzle stays bare.

The butt plate and magazine corners give way first, red paling toward a gray pink. A base this dark swallows wear, so the carrying handle still reads as new. The wolf lies on a flat panel and stays untouched, so the rifle reads from any angle.

Where the StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl came from

The artwork came in through a Steam Workshop submission, and the finish went live on May 1, 2014. Six weeks later Valve upheld a claim over its authorship and published a note. The submitters lost their payouts, and the item moved to Contraband, never to be issued again.

Valve drew the image that copies carry today and swapped it in for every owner; the catalog number is 309.

What to check before buying

Three things separate one listing from another:

  • the number on the counter, which belongs to the copy and transfers with it;

  • the float inside 0.07 to 0.15, since magazine corners pale toward the upper end;

  • Any stickers already applied, and a name tag if a previous owner left one.

With so little float in play, copies resemble each other. The artwork is identical across the run, so the pattern index decides nothing.

What the StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl costs in Minimal Wear

Against the plain rifle in the same condition, the counter adds about two thirds. Factory New charges a steeper premium, which is this wear's argument: an almost clean body at a cheaper entry.

Inside the counter version, Factory New stands about two thirds higher and Field-Tested about a tenth lower. Across every M4A4 in the game this listing ranks second, behind only the Factory New copy.

Getting the StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl

No case holds this rifle, and it has no collection either. A contract works only inside a collection, so no inputs will produce the counter version. The route is a finished listing.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The finish also exists without the counter, at its own price. The M4A4 | Howl has no Souvenir edition: it came out of an ordinary case, and Souvenir packages are made only for tournament map collections.

Stickers and craft on the StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl

Bands cover the stock and handguard, and the wolf owns the receiver. That leaves the magazine and the panel above the trigger guard. White and cool stickers keep their shape; red ones dissolve into the artwork.

Who this wear suits

Buy the StatTrak™ M4A4 | Howl in this condition when:

  • the kill counter matters more than perfect edges;

  • saving against Factory New appeals, but a worn body does not;

  • the rifle joins a CS2 loadout and will be fired.

What separates this wear from Factory New collects on the butt plate and magazine corners, and a match never shows it.
