USP-S | Orion in Factory New (FN) is the clean end of the scale, where the dark olive paint has not a single light bare patch. In this wear the USP-S | Orion covers floats from 0.00 to 0.07. It is Classified rank, and the finish is listed in The Huntsman Collection.
What the USP-S | Orion looks like in Factory New
The pistol is nearly one color. The suppressor, slide, frame and grip are covered in an even, dark gray-olive, with no highlighted zones: no part looks painted separately or deliberately left bare. A few slightly darker round dots and a pair of narrow rings show on the suppressor, and the muzzle face is light, bare steel. Small factory markings and a serial code are legible on the slide, and "USP" is embossed on the grip. The stars and constellations the name suggests are not on the finish at all.
There is no artwork, so wear can show only as light patches of bare metal. They appear on the front and rear edges of the slide, the serrations, the frame edges and the raised parts of the grip. In Factory New there are no such patches on the body, and that is the only way a clean copy differs from a worn one. The flat surfaces look almost unchanged across the whole scale anyway, so this skin shows its wear grade poorly.
Where the USP-S | Orion came from
The artwork is credited to the artist with the handle frontaLOBE. The Steam Workshop submission was posted from the Nextgenz profile on March 15, 2014 under the title "Usp-s | Orion". Under the submission the author left a single word: "Discontinued". In Valve's skin catalog the finish is number 313.
The collection has a case, but the USP-S | Orion is not on its list. The case was added on May 2, 2014. On June 12 of the same year Valve published the note "Respecting Intellectual Property". The contents of the case and of a sticker set were rebuilt, replacing copied and withdrawn items.
What to check before buying
On the USP-S | Orion, these things change from lot to lot:
- float within 0.00 to 0.07, which means how clean the slide and frame edges are;
- the serrations on the grip and the raised parts of the frame — they lighten earlier than the flat surfaces;
- stickers and a name tag left on the USP-S | Orion by the previous owner.
Float leaves little to choose from on the USP-S | Orion, since the 0.00 to 0.07 stretch is short. The pattern repeats unchanged from lot to lot.
What the USP-S | Orion costs in Factory New
Minimal Wear and Field-Tested are about half the price, and Well-Worn is about a quarter cheaper. Battle-Scarred, though, costs two and a third times more than the clean wear. The scale of this finish breaks off halfway, and the most worn version gets only a very short tail.
Among Classified USP-Ss in Factory New, the USP-S | Orion is seventh by price of nine. USP-S | Serum is about a tenth cheaper, USP-S | Caiman and USP-S | Monster Mashup about a fifth, USP-S | Cortex three times cheaper. Only two finishes cost more: USP-S | Target Acquired nearly four times as much and USP-S | Whiteout about four and a half times.
Getting the USP-S | Orion
The USP-S | Orion is not in any case. The Huntsman Collection appeared on May 1, 2014, and copies were handed out as drops. To trade up into the USP-S | Orion you need ten skins one rank lower from this collection.
StatTrak and Souvenir
Stickers and craft on the USP-S | Orion
The USP-S | Orion has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were issued for this finish: they were made only for tournament map collections. But you can build a Souvenir copy yourself — Souvenir-O-Matic puts golden tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from the inventory. That is why single Souvenir copies occasionally turn up even where packages never existed.
A one-color dark base is a rare case in CS2 where any part of the body will do for a sticker. The longest flat area here is the suppressor, followed by the side of the slide. Light and acid colors give the strongest contrast on olive, while dark green and brown stickers sink into the base.
Who this wear suits
Buying the USP-S | Orion here makes sense under these conditions:
- you want a copy without a single light bare patch on the edges;
- you want a calm, dark USP for CS2, with no pattern and no bright spots;
- you are preparing a craft on a flat, one-color area.
If clean edges don't matter, look at Field-Tested: the flat surfaces are the same there, and the price is half.
