USP-S | The Traitor (Battle-Scarred)

The USP-S | The Traitor in Battle-Scarred (BS) is a dark red USP-S with a gold plant ornament. It is a Covert skin in the Snakebite Collection and drops from the Snakebite Case. Float on this finish runs from 0.00 to 1.00, and Battle-Scarred takes up more than half of the scale, 55%. This wear of the USP-S | The Traitor lies between 0.45 and 1.00.

What the USP-S | The Traitor looks like in Battle-Scarred

The base is a deep red-burgundy, with golden branches and flowers in a greenish cast laid over it. The front half of the suppressor is dark gray, and the rear half is red with gold branches. The grip is red with a bright orange-red ribbed insert in front, and a bluish magazine base sits below.

Valve says the finish was inspired by the Hanged Man tarot card. In Battle-Scarred the wear shows across the whole body. The wear is set when the skin drops and does not change over time.

Where the USP-S | The Traitor came from

Valve's catalog lists the finish as number 1040, with Zaphk as the designer. The work appeared in the Steam Workshop on March 15, 2018, as "CS20 | The Hanged Man USP-S" from Oni. The description says it is the second series of the Tarot Collection: a deck of tarot cards in the form of weapons, after "The Empress AK-47" and "Mortis AWP". Each weapon in it is a major arcana with its own illustration.

The USP-S | The Traitor appeared on May 4, 2021, when the Snakebite Collection was added to the game.

What to check before buying

Before buying the USP-S | The Traitor, check the following:

• float: inside 0.45 to 1.00 sit both nearly whole copies and badly beaten ones;

• the name tag and stickers, which stay with the listing on the USP-S | The Traitor;

• the wear in the listing title, since the upper wears of this finish cost several times more.

The USP-S | The Traitor is the same artwork on every copy, and there are no rare examples. Here you pick within 0.45 to 1.00, and the look at the two ends of the band differs noticeably.

What the USP-S | The Traitor costs in Battle-Scarred

Factory New costs 3.09 times as much, Minimal Wear 1.89 times and Field-Tested 1.17 times. Well-Worn costs 1.06 times as much, so the bottom three wears sit close together.

Among Covert USP-S skins in this wear, The Traitor is the cheapest of four. The USP-S | Printstream costs a twelfth more, the USP-S | Kill Confirmed almost twice as much, and the USP-S | Neo-Noir three and a half times as much.

Getting the USP-S | The Traitor

The USP-S | The Traitor drops from the Snakebite Case, and the wear is determined when the case is opened. Ten skins of the rank below from one collection go into a trade-up for it. As a Covert skin, it can also serve as an input to a craft for a rare special item.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The USP-S | The Traitor has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were released for this finish, because they were made only for tournament map collections. A Souvenir copy can still be put together by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic places gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a regular skin from the inventory. For that reason a lone Souvenir copy now and then surfaces where no packages were ever issued.

Stickers and craft on the USP-S | The Traitor

The ornament is thin and golden against a dark background, so gold and light stickers blend with it well. Bright colored stickers override the branches and pull attention away from the artwork.

Who this wear suits

The USP-S | The Traitor is worth buying in this wear if:

• you want the cheapest Covert USP-S with a gold ornament on red;

• scuffs on a dark finish do not bother you, and you would rather not overpay for the upper wears;

• a CS2 loadout is being built around red and gold.
