The USP-S | The Traitor in Factory New (FN) is a dark red USP-S with a gold plant ornament, and also the priciest of the skin's five wears. It is a Covert skin that drops from the Snakebite Case. In the clean wear no Covert USP-S costs less.
What the USP-S | The Traitor looks like in Factory New
The base is a deep red-burgundy. Thin gold branches with leaves wind across the slide, the gold leaning toward green. The branches reach onto the rear half of the suppressor, while the front half and the barrel stay dark gray. The grip is red, with a bright orange-red ribbed insert set into the front and, on the grip itself, a pale mark in a red panel.
Factory New for this skin means a float of 0.00 to 0.07. In that band the thin gold lines run along the slide and suppressor without breaks. Wear is recorded when the skin drops, so a clean copy stays clean.
Where the USP-S | The Traitor came from
Oni posted the Steam Workshop submission on March 15, 2018, titled "CS20 | The Hanged Man USP-S", that is, the Hanged Man. In Valve's catalog the designer of the finish is listed as Zaphk. The author wrote that this is the second series of tarot cards in weapon form, following The Empress on the AK-47 and Mortis on the AWP.
Valve's own description also points to the Hanged Man tarot card, calling past failures the blueprints of future success. The Snakebite Collection came out on May 4, 2021, and the USP-S | The Traitor has been in it from day one. The finish's number in Valve's catalog is 1040.
What to check before buying
Before paying for the USP-S | The Traitor, it helps to check:
- float: the number should lie between 0.00 and 0.07;
- the stickers and name tag already on this copy of the USP-S | The Traitor.
Every USP-S | The Traitor carries the same artwork, so the price does not hinge on pattern. The 0.00 to 0.07 band in this wear is short, so there is no point chasing the number.
What the USP-S | The Traitor costs in Factory New
Factory New is the skin's priciest wear. Measured against the others, it stands like this:
- more than one and a half times the price of Minimal Wear;
- about two and a half times the price of Field-Tested;
- almost three times the price of Well-Worn;
- a little over three times the price of Battle-Scarred.
The StatTrak version in the clean wear costs almost three times the regular one. Among the four Covert USP-S skins, this one in Factory New is the cheapest. The USP-S | Printstream costs a few percent more, the USP-S | Neo-Noir over a quarter more, and the USP-S | Kill Confirmed two and a half times as much. Within the Snakebite Collection only the M4A4 | In Living Color is cheaper, by about a sixth.
Getting the USP-S | The Traitor
The USP-S | The Traitor drops from the Snakebite Case; no other case holds this finish. A trade-up for it takes ten skins from one rank below out of the same collection. The collection has three Classified skins and two Covert, so the odds are one in two.
The collection's Covert rank also feeds a craft for a rare special item: five Covert skins are exchanged for gloves. In the Snakebite Case the gold consists only of gloves from six families.
StatTrak and Souvenir
StatTrak is available on the USP-S | The Traitor. A few Souvenir copies exist as well, but not because of any packages: only tournament map collections ever had them. The Souvenir-O-Matic is how these copies come about. It adds gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to a regular skin from the inventory.
Stickers and craft on the USP-S | The Traitor
The red base is deep, so gold stickers sit in tune with the branches, while green and blue ones stand out by contrast. Red and pink merge into the background. The pale mark on the grip and the bright insert beside it make up the most noticeable spot of the finish.
Who this wear suits
Buying the USP-S | The Traitor in this wear makes sense if:
- you want a Covert USP-S for CS2 with the gold ornament whole;
- you want the lowest price among Covert USP-S skins in the clean wear;
- you are matching a red base to gold stickers.
If the gold does not have to be whole, Minimal Wear costs more than one and a half times less.
