Description

This is the USP-S | Whiteout in Minimal Wear (MW). The point here is a solid white fill with no artwork, so there is nothing on this body to hide a scuff. This wear of the USP-S | Whiteout covers the band from 0.07 to 0.15. It is Classified rank, and the finish comes from the 2021 Train Collection.

What the USP-S | Whiteout looks like in Minimal Wear

The paint covers every part the same way, with no borders between colors at all. The suppressor along its whole length, the slide, the frame, the trigger guard and the grip are one warm, faintly creamy white. There is no artwork, lettering or pattern, and only the model's relief reads: the serrations on the slide, the holes in the suppressor, the texture of the grip. The front sight, the trigger and the cut of the barrel inside the suppressor stay dark.

In Minimal Wear the first marks have already come through, and they sit along the edges. The top of the slide, the front face of the suppressor and the corners of the guard and grip turn gray before the rest. The field between them stays even, so the gray reads as an outline rather than as general grime.

The finish's scale is cut off at the bottom: it starts at 0.06, not at zero. Factory New therefore gets only the first hundredth, and this wear follows right after it.

Where the USP-S | Whiteout came from

The USP-S | Whiteout was not dreamed up in the Steam Workshop but by Valve itself. The collection with the USP-S | Whiteout, the 2021 Train Collection, came out on September 21, 2021, the same day CS:GO launched Operation Riptide. In the Valve finish catalog the skin is number 1065.

What to check before buying

When choosing a USP-S | Whiteout, check these:

  • the float within 0.07 to 0.15: near the bottom of the band there is almost no gray on the edges;

  • stickers and a name tag, which stay with the listing on the USP-S | Whiteout;

  • the front face of the suppressor, which on solid white is one of the first places to give out.

There is no pattern variance on the USP-S | Whiteout: what one listing shows, the others show too. You can buy a USP-S | Whiteout here almost blind, because the 0.07 to 0.15 band is narrow.

What the USP-S | Whiteout costs in Minimal Wear

The gap to Factory New is unusually large here: the top wear costs about five times as much, and only a hundredth of float separates it. The steps downward are smaller: Field-Tested is about half the price, and Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are a little further down.

The fill itself explains the gap. Gray on a solid field shows at once, and an untouched body differs from a touched one without magnification. On a finish with dense artwork such marks would drown in the lines.

Among Classified USP-S skins in Minimal Wear, only the USP-S | Target Acquired costs more, by more than three times. All the others are below. The USP-S | Serum is about one and a half times cheaper. The USP-S | Orion is more than one and a half times cheaper, and the USP-S | Caiman almost three times.

Getting the USP-S | Whiteout

The USP-S | Whiteout is not in any case. The 2021 Train Collection is built around a map, and such sets are handed out as drops for time played. A trade-up into the USP-S | Whiteout takes ten skins one tier below, all from this collection.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the USP-S | Whiteout

No StatTrak version of the USP-S | Whiteout was ever released. Souvenir copies do turn up, but no Souvenir packages were made for this finish: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

The finish has no artwork of its own, so a sticker works as all the decoration at once: one large sticker is more expressive than several small ones. Light marks vanish on the white field, while dark, saturated ones hold up fully. In Minimal Wear, keep the sticker away from the slide edge: gray already sits there, and the edge of the sticker would land on the wear.

Who this wear suits

Buying the USP-S | Whiteout in Minimal Wear is justified in these cases:

  • you want a clean white body and see no reason for a fivefold premium for Factory New;

  • gray edging along the edges doesn't bother you: up close it reads as an outline;

  • the USP-S is going into CS2 matches, where the edges can't be made out at a distance.

Below this, the white stops being even: by Field-Tested the gray is no longer only on the edges, and the even field is the whole point of a solid fill.
