★ Driver Gloves | Black Tie, Field-Tested (FT): a gray-brown leather pair with an olive cast and a light palm. Extraordinary rank, with the star. The pair drops from three cases: the Operation Broken Fang Case, the Snakebite Case and the Recoil Case. The scale of this finish never reaches zero: the cleanest float here is 0.06.
What the ★ Driver Gloves | Black Tie look like in Field-Tested
Despite the name, there is little black in this finish. The back of the hand is gray-brown with a dull metallic sheen, and a diamond-shaped insert of light mesh fabric sits on it. The fingers are perforated. The palm is light, creamy white, with a dark mesh insert at the base. Valve's description is limited to protection from the elements and the feel of the grip.
Between 0.15 and 0.38 on the ★ Driver Gloves | Black Tie, the scuffing builds up noticeably. It shows first at the finger creases and on the edge of the cuff, where the leather turns into the dark part. The condition is locked in at the drop and does not shift with time.
Where the ★ Driver Gloves | Black Tie came from
The finish's original case is the Operation Broken Fang Case. In the end-of-operation note of May 4, 2021, Valve wrote about the Snakebite Case. It holds seventeen weapon finishes by community artists, and the Broken Fang glove set sits in it as a rare special item.
What to check before buying
Choosing a specific ★ Driver Gloves | Black Tie comes down to these points:
- the float: between 0.15 and 0.38 there is a difference you can see in the listing screenshot;
- the light palm: on creamy white leather the condition reads well;
- the wear named in the listing: Factory New costs more than ten times as much, and Minimal Wear two and a half times.
What the ★ Driver Gloves | Black Tie cost in Field-Tested
Among the twenty Driver Gloves finishes with a price in this wear, Black Tie is twelfth from the top. King Snake costs about a seventh more, Imperial Plaid a quarter more, and Snow Leopard more than twice as much. Racing Green is four times cheaper.
Next to the other wears, Field-Tested stands as follows:
- Factory New: more than ten times as much;
- Minimal Wear: two and a half times as much;
- Well-Worn: cheaper by about a tenth;
- Battle-Scarred: cheaper by about a quarter.
Getting the ★ Driver Gloves | Black Tie
There are three cases: the Operation Broken Fang Case, the Snakebite Case and the Recoil Case. In all of them the pair is a rare special item, and the wear is random. A contract offers a second route: five Covert skins from one collection give a rare special item in return, and the finish in it cannot be chosen. To get exactly these gloves in the wear you want, buy a ready-made listing.
Who this wear suits
It makes sense to buy the ★ Driver Gloves | Black Tie in Field-Tested if:
- you want a restrained gray-brown pair for a CS2 loadout;
- paying over ten times more for Factory New is not justified;
- you want a finish from the middle of the Driver Gloves lineup, without the high prices.
