What the ★ Survival Knife | Rust Coat looks like in Battle-Scarred

Rust covers the blade in a nearly unbroken layer: orange-brown patches, dark veining and a few pale gaps along the edge. The shape is the usual survival knife, with a cut-off point, a hook on the spine, a long cutout and a saw near the base. The handle is black, with ribbed inserts.

In Battle-Scarred very little bare metal is left to see. Wear is fixed at drop and does not change.

Where the ★ Survival Knife | Rust Coat came from

The Fever Case came out on March 31, 2025, with the Spring Forward update. Valve described it as 17 skins by community authors plus Shattered Web knives in Chroma finishes. The Survival Knife with the Rust Coat finish sits in exactly this case.

What to check before buying

A few points are worth checking before you buy the ★ Survival Knife | Rust Coat:

• float: in this wear it is a long band, 0.45 to 1.00, so comparing several listings pays off;

• name tag: this knife accepts a name, and it stays on after the purchase;

• how the rust looks on the blade and the handle in the listing image.

What the ★ Survival Knife | Rust Coat costs in Battle-Scarred

Battle-Scarred takes almost the whole scale of the finish: 0.55 of 0.60. Well-Worn takes only the start, 0.40 to 0.45, and costs 1.2 times as much.

In Battle-Scarred this finish costs less than any other Covert-rank Survival Knife finish. Safari Mesh is two percent higher, Boreal Forest four, Scorched 11, Night Stripe and Forest DDPAT 14. The top of the row is held by Blue Steel, Crimson Web and Case Hardened.
