What the Finish Changes

Skull is a finish for the rock in Rust: instead of the standard lump of stone your character holds a human skull. The very first item in the game gets the grimmest treatment anybody has designed for it.

Why Anyone Skins a Rock

The rock is what you wake up with on the beach. It chops wood, breaks stone and fends off the first people you run into.

The finish swaps the tool's model, so from then on you are swinging a skull — which, per its own description, is exactly what it invites you to smash things with.

Gather rates, damage and every other number stay untouched. Mechanically the rock remains a rock.

It is applied on craft or at a repair bench, and the finish is tied to the Steam account: die, respawn naked, and the skull is still there.

How Visible It Is

The logic matches the bow. You look at your starting tool for longer than at any expensive weapon, particularly at the beginning of a wipe.

In first person the rock takes up a visible chunk of the screen, so the swapped model is in view through every gathering session.

There is an unexpected side effect as well: a naked player holding a skull looks considerably less harmless than one holding a stone, and people pick up on it.

On a roleplay server that detail can do more work than expensive armour. A character is built out of small pieces rather than out of price tags.

What Skull Costs

Concealment does not enter into it. The item is held in hand, matches no biome and barely affects your outline.

Nor does it expose you any more than a plain rock would, since the model is the same size.

So the choice here is purely aesthetic, with no consequence in either direction.

That holds for held items generally: a finish affects how you are remembered, not how you are spotted.

Clothing is the exception, where colour genuinely does camouflage work in a specific biome.

Who Should Buy It

The amount stays under $5 — one of the cheapest shelves in the Rust catalogue.

Rock finishes never get expensive, because this is a starter item and nobody is willing to invest heavily in one.

The live figure is shown in the card above, pulled from current offers.

Through LIS-SKINS it comes out below the Steam Market, since the Valve commission is not written into the price.

Where to Buy Skull

Players with a taste for grim aesthetics, since a skull slots in beside cultist torches, masks and Halloween outfits.

Players who die often and restart constantly, which is honestly almost everyone in this game.

Anyone collecting cheap cosmetics in bulk: the cost of a single weapon finish buys several items at this level.

If you only log in for late wipe with a rifle and a full kit, the purchase will pass you by unnoticed.

The finish is available on LIS-SKINS from here: Steam authorisation, an offer, then payment by card, cryptocurrency or e-wallet.

It is credited to your Steam inventory and picked up by the game automatically.

If it wears thin, sell it from the same page and withdraw the money to a card or wallet.

Other rock and starter-tool finishes are shelved next to it, so a whole grim kit costs about what one mid-range weapon finish does.
