Each of us has our own subjective idea of which dota players are among the ten best players in Dota 2. Therefore, we want to avoid personal assessments as much as possible and, when choosing top gamers, mostly rely on objective criteria, for example, the best win/loss ratio, the largest size earned prize money, the first ever “breakthrough” a ceiling of 12,000 MMR, the best KDA as of last 2022, and even exploring the choice of the now widely known ChatGPT neural network.
There will be no ranking of gamers here from first place to tenth, as is usually customary. We decided to take a different path and selected from 1 to 3 dota players for each criterion, and also added our own personal trio to make up the ten best players in Dota 2.
Best win/loss ratio
According to harsh but fair statistics, among the top dota players one stands out, who won out of 878 matches played 582, i.e. achieved 66% victories, 6% of games ended in draws and only 28% of the rink lost. This gamer is known under the nickname Arteezy (real name – Artur Babaev), and now plays for the Shopify Rebellion organization as a carry. Arthur is from the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, but plays under the Canadian flag.
He met Dota 2 quite late, in 2013, only after completing his training at school. However, despite the fact that Arteezy is now 26 years old, he is in excellent shape and is in no way inferior to talented young guys of the tier-1 level. Arthur has never won The International, but, nevertheless, he is one of the richest dota players thanks to his high level of play and earnings from streams.
In addition, in the gaming community, Arthur is known as the second gamer to break the 9,000 MMR rating (the first was Miracle-). So, Arteezy definitely deserves a place among the ten best players in Dota 2.
The largest amount of prize money earned
The palm here was taken by a dota player from Denmark, known for his passion for various unliterary and obscene words of the Russian language, and at the same time the winner of 2 TI and 4 majors - N0tail (real name – Johan Sundstein). Now he plays for the Old G team in the position of support 5 (and at the same time serves as captain), where Johan played his entire career. N0tail is 29 years old, he has been in Dota 2 since 2012.
Of course, N0tail received the lion's share of the prize money due to 2 victories in a row at the International, which he achieved in 2018-2019, playing for the OG club. Moreover, no one predicted the success of 2018; on the contrary, Dota 2 experts did not allow the possibility of OG’s triumph.
So N0tail and his team surprised not only the experts, but also the Dota community. Sundstein is cool precisely because he was able to convert his skills and leadership qualities into solid money for the world of esports. That is why we believe that N0tail deserves to be among the ten best players in Dota 2.
First achievement of 12,000 MMR
Before this, our ranking included older players. Now the younger generation is striking back in the form of 23savage (real name – Nyengnara Tiramahanon) from Thailand, playing for the Talon Esports team in the carry position.
He is only 20 years old, but he has already set a record, being the first to break the previously unattainable mark in 12,000 MMR. 23savage is known in the community for his ambition and desire for serious tournament achievements, which is confirmed by regular appearances at the International and Majors, which, however, have not yet led to victories. It is still difficult to call him one of the ten best players in Dota 2, but Nyengnara is clearly striving with all his might to be on this list.
The second gamer to reach the coveted figure of 12k is 23-year-old JaCkky (real name – Soulia Khoomphetsavong) from Laos. He plays for the Bleed Esports organization as a carry.
JaCkky looks up to Miracle- and intends to reach his level, which is why he decided quit university in the 2nd year and go against the will of his father, who dreamed of Zulia becoming an architect.
The top three record holders are completed by one of the top mid-laners of our time, Quinn (real name – Quinn Callahan), from the USA, currently playing for the Gaimin Gladiators.
Best KDA in 2022
The leader in KDA and a potential candidate for the top ten players in Dota 2 is bzm (real name – Bozhidar Bogdanov) from Bulgaria, playing for the OG team in the mid position. Bozhidar is only 17 years old, but he is already a strong warrior, fully justifying his name.
Get a KDA of 6.44 at his age and overtake many experienced doters – this is not just an accident. Observing bzm, we can conclude that his strength lies in exceptional composure, calmness and complete self-control in any situation. In case of failure, Bozhidar does not tilt, but continues to implement the game plan without emotion.
In 2022, OG with Bozhidar in the lineup had an excellent stretch of 6 tournaments, in which the team did not place lower than fourth. Analysts predict a successful future for him, and we are inclined to agree with them. In their opinion, the following skills are extremely important in Dota 2:
Be able to take a hit.
Have strong nerves.
Have an excellent skill in your position.
Bzm has these qualities, which increases his chances of becoming one of the star gamers and, perhaps, the top ten players in Dota 2.
The ChatGPT neural network selects dota player No. 1
According to the artificial intelligence that chose among current and former players, the first number should be considered Loda (real name – Jonathan Emanuel Berg) from Sweden, who played in the position of carry and ended his career in June 2018 at the age of 30.
Berg is known as one of the founders of the Alliance team, which defeated the then brilliant Navi team at the 2013 International in a very stubborn match. Currently, Loda manages the Alliance and at the same time trains the organization's roster.
In our opinion, the choice of Loda is very ambiguous, because offhand we can name more titled and famous dota players than Berg, for example, N0tail, Miracle-, ppd or Dendi, whose results and statistics were better. What was I “thinking” about? The ChatGPT neural network, putting Berg in first place, is unknown, and the creators of AI, as usual, do not comment on anything.
Although we may be too biased towards Loda, and you, on the contrary, will agree with ChatGPT, since you consider Berg one of the ten best players in Dota 2.
Our personal trio
Top 1 for us, of course, is Dendi (real name – Danil Ishutin), who for a long time played for Navi as a mid player and became the winner of the first International among them. Despite the fact that Danil is 33 years old, he continues to play as part of the B8 Esports team he founded.
Many young players look up to Dandy, who in private conversations call him theirs an idol and a person who motivated them to devote their lives to Dota 2. What about young players, Danil’s charisma is recognized by the entire e-sports community and even the creator of the Valve company himself. Second on the list we’ll call Puppey (real name – Klement Ivanov) from Estonia, captain of the legendary Navi roster from 2011. Currently plays for Team Secret in the position of support 5.
Clement is an extremely unusual and controversial doter. Known for his emotional outbursts, such as breaking monitors in rage due to failures. But, at the same time, a genius of strategy, capable of surprising the enemy where everything seems to be studied and well-trodden.
Top 3 – Miracle- (real name – Amer Al-Barqawi) from Jordan, a wizard in the mid lane, spectacular in 2015-2016, champion of 4 majors and 1 International.
