G2, currently ranked third in the world rankings, announced the signing of contracts with two European players: Finnish eSports player Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen will play the role of in-game leader, while the Frenchman Remy "XTQZZZ" will take on the duties of head coach.
With the transfer of twenty-four-year-old Aleksib from OG, G2 completes the formation of the main roster for the 2022 season. Another notable recent deal for G2 was the appearance of “m0NESY” in Ilya’s lineup. Osipova from NAVI Junior, who joined the team this winter.
The most successful period in Aleksib’s career was 2018-2019, when he headed the Finnish ENCE roster, and now the player hopes to repeat the achievements of that time. For OG, where he played before, the last year was rather unsuccessful: it did not win major tournaments and was only able to make it to the final stages of the playoffs at IEM Summer and ESL Pro League Season 14.
After the PGL Major, the team remained without a head coach for some time – his functions were temporarily performed by analysts Ian "Swani" Muller. Now the team will be trained by Remy “XTQZZZ”, who made a significant contribution to the recent rise of Vitality, but stopped working with her at the end of 2021.
The new G2 roster will make its first appearance at BLAST Premier Spring Groups in a match that will take place on January 28.
