British player Alex "ALEX" McMeekin signed a three-year contract with the Cloud9 team. He will serve as captain and game leader. In an interview he gave after signing the contract, the eSports player said that he views his new role as a test and an opportunity to prove that he is capable of achieving the best results.
Commenting on the impact of the pandemic on his participation in competitions, he noted that due to the change in the competition format, new opportunities have opened up for him: “Now you don’t have to waste energy on travel. There is no need to fly to the USA, experience jet lag, or stay in hotels.” At the same time, for him, as for most players, stress levels have increased as the match schedule has become more hectic: “When you have to play official matches every two days, you are constantly focused on competing, and there is even more stress than before.”
It is unclear whether ALEX will move to the United States. It all depends on what the roster composition ends up being and on the development of the situation with the coronavirus. In any case, the health and psychological state of the players remains one of the main priorities for the team. Alex also mentioned that he really appreciates the opportunity to work with Alexander “kassad” Trifunovic, who recently took over as head coach of Cloud9.
