Astralis advanced to the finals of the Pinnacle Cup Championship 2022, defeating BIG. Thus, the Danish team has a chance to win its first title in 2022.
The German BIG had to make a replacement literally on the eve of the match: Nils “k1to” Grun took over after Karim "Krimbo" tested positive for coronavirus. The mousse turned out to be positive. Despite this, the team managed to achieve a significant advantage in the score on both maps. However, BIG was unable to maintain this gap and turn it into a victory: Astralis successfully fought back from 0 – 6 on Ancient and 0 – 7 on Dust2.
At the same time, the turn on Ancient turned out to be especially sharp. Having won six rounds in a row at the beginning, later BIG was able to take only one, as a result of which the map ended with a score of 16 – 7 in favor of Astralis. On Dust2 the confrontation looked more even. After BIG won seven rounds at the beginning, the advantage changed hands many times, but in the end the map remained with the Danes (16 – 13).
Astralis' opponent in the grand final will be determined in the match for third place, which will take place on Saturday afternoon. The grand final itself will take place on the same day at 21.00 Moscow time.
