DBLTAP reported that BLAST, one of the largest tournament organizers, may expand the ability of teams to replace players. Previously, teams participating in BLAST Premier could enter up to two participants in addition to the main roster and make substitutions between matches. In accordance with the new rules, this can be done even during the play of the map, at the moment when the teams change sides. This way, players will be able to react more flexibly to the situation and adjust their tactics if necessary. Previously, although substitutions between cards were allowed, players practically did not use them. Perhaps the new rules will encourage them to use this opportunity more actively.
The changes to the rules will be especially beneficial for the Astralis team. The Danes recently expanded their roster to seven people by signing Jakob “JUGi” Hansen and Patrick "es3tag" Hansen. At the same time, es3tag, under the terms of the agreement reached, will join the Astralis roster from July 1.
It is expected that the new rules will come into force at the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown tournament. It starts on May 31 and will be divided into two divisions – European and North American.
