Former Akuma coach talks about the history of the team

Ivan "Johnta" Shevtsov, who previously held the position of coach of Akuma, published several posts on his Twitter in which he talked about how the current composition of the team was formed. In particular, he mentioned that he initially selected the players with the expectation that they would play together for a long time. Teams such as FURIA and Gambit Youngsters acted as reference points for him, and he hoped to repeat their success.

Johnta initially formed the core of the team with three players – Psycho, Sergiz and rAge. Subsequently, two more Belarusian e-sportsmen joined them, and after rAge moved to Hard Legion, he was replaced by SENSEi. As a result, the coach managed to form a roster that began to achieve its first successes, playing for the Croatian esports organization CR4ZY.

Several more changes followed, in particular Johnta brought in several young players who had shown good results at the amateur level. By the summer of 2020, the team was able to rise to 44th place in the HLTV ratings, but due to the pandemic, it faced new difficulties. CR4ZY closed all its rosters, and the players continued to perform without support for some time. Ultimately, Johnta decided to move to Valorant, and another e-sportsman became the coach of the team that now plays under the Akuma tag.

Thus, a roster was formed that unexpectedly performed successfully in the playoffs of the EPIC League CIS 2021, defeating NAVI and Virtus.pro. The next test for the team will be a meeting with Gambit on the evening of May 29.
