The European team Cloud9 unexpectedly received the opportunity to compete in the European division of DreamHack Masters Winter. The fact that she will take the place of Evil Geniuses in the tournament bracket was announced on Monday. The organizers made this decision after the North American team had to postpone overseas travel due to coronavirus restrictions.
A few days ago, Evil Geniuses announced that they would miss their performance at the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown – at these competitions their place was taken by Heroic. This leaves the only event where the North American team will compete before the end of the year remaining at the IEM Global Challenge in mid-December.
Cloud9 will take the position of Evil Geniuses in Group A, where it will have to fight for access to the playoffs with seven teams from Europe and the CIS, including Complexity, Heroic, FaZe, Gambit and others. The championship will be held online from November 30 to December 6, and its prize fund will be $150,000. Leader of Cloud9 Alex "Alex" McMeekin recently gave an interview in which he spoke about his views on the team's prospects. In his opinion, its current composition has a good chance of success, but the players need more experience in official matches to improve interaction.
