The Counter-Strike shooter has a rich history. Just think about it: the series was created 23 years ago, and is still being developed and modernized. The release of the next series, called Counter-Strike 2, took place on September 27, 2023. Today we will talk about the main changes in the version of Counter-Strike 2 compared to the previous series, Global Offensive (CS:GO).
More advanced rating system
According to critics and players, the rating system in the Global Offensive version was imperfect and outdated. The total number of titles was 18, and it was very difficult to understand by what criterion an increase or decrease in the ranking occurred. Another very important disadvantage of the system in CS:GO – the ceiling of ranks, which was “Global”.
There is no ceiling in the Counter-Strike 2 series. The concept of CS Rating is introduced here: all players see the current number of points, and before the match information appears about how much they will receive for a victory and how many points they will lose in case of failure.
Graphics
Counter-Strike fans have long been waiting for a change in the game engine to Source 2, and they finally got it. The graphics have become much clearer, more realistic and brighter. This can be seen using the example of cards:

New grenade training
Counter-Strike 2 gives players the ability to preview the trajectory of grenades when playing against bots. Now, holding the smoke in your hands, you can see where it will land. To do this, a special window will appear on the left side of the screen.
This innovation was greeted with delight, because it allows you to find the best positions for throwing grenades.
Higher realism
First of all, this concerns traces of shots on surfaces. Now they look realistic and don't look like they were a hastily pasted sticker. Judge for yourself:

Smoke from grenades was also exposed changes. In the new version, it interacts with the environment, reacts to shots and explosions. Smoke will no longer be a static spot with fixed dimensions: now it flows around surrounding objects and replaces space more believably.
How is the new version doing?
Since the release of the Counter-Strike 2 series, the shooter has more than 31,000,000 unique players. This is a new record for the entire series: so, as of May 2023, the game was launched by 29,000,000 players. Have you already joined?
