On November 12, Counter-Strike 2 received one of the most notable autumn updates, timed to the start of the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025. Valve introduced not only the traditional Viewer Pass and stickers but also added unique customization features, improved performance, and delivered several useful technical fixes for players.

StarLadder Budapest Major 2025

The key part of the update is the launch of the Budapest Major 2025 tournament hub, now available in the client. Starting November 24, all three stages of the event will be held at MTK Sportpark in Budapest, and this year the grand final will be played as a Best of 5 for the first time in Major history. The winner will have to take three maps from the active pool, guaranteeing an intense battle all the way to the end.

Viewer Pass: more bonuses, more souvenirs

By purchasing the Budapest 2025 Viewer Pass, players receive an upgradable event coin, access to the Pick’Em Challenge, unlimited team graffiti, and the ability to earn souvenir tokens and redeem souvenir matches featuring player autographs and exclusive stickers. One of the new features is the Playoff Souvenirs with charms that include match highlights. It’s a great way to support your favorite team and collect unique items for your inventory.

Stickers and charms: a step forward in customization

Alongside the Viewer Pass, the game received new tournament stickers featuring all team logos and player autographs. But the main highlight is the introduction of Sticker Slabs — special charms that allow you to “seal” any sticker inside them. You can attach this slab to a weapon without consuming the sticker. Later, you can return it to your inventory by breaking the seal. This solution is perfect for collectors who want to showcase a rare sticker without permanently using it.

Store and inventory updates

New Name Tags and StatTrak™ Swap Tools can no longer be immediately listed on the marketplace or traded — measures aimed at reducing speculation and protecting the skin economy. Steam has also updated the color coding for item quality, making visual identification even clearer.

Gameplay and maps: bug fixes and better stability

The update also touched on game mechanics:

  • The maximum velocity value (sv_maxvelocity) was increased to 16384 (default 3500), opening the door for more flexible server configuration.

  • Fixed issues with inaccurate jump prediction — especially important for high-level play.

  • On Inferno, sky-blocking elements interfering with grenade trajectories were removed — players can now use familiar lineups without obstruction.

Minor improvements and performance

Valve also continued working on the game’s visuals:

  • Increased the distance at which bullet impact decals remain visible.

  • Glove animations in the inventory are now synced with in‑game animations — a small but pleasant detail.

  • The blinking LED on the C4 has been restored, making the model feel more authentic.

  • Overall game performance has been improved, benefiting even low-end systems.

A perfect time to invest in your inventory

The November 12 update added plenty of exciting features to CS2 — for both collectors and regular players. The new Sticker Slab format, tournament stickers, Pick’Em challenges, souvenirs, and charms make the Budapest Major a truly standout event worth following.
