The end of September can rightfully be called the beginning of a new era in the world of CS:GO. The version on the new engine, called Counter-Strike 2, has become available to all players. Here is the most important information you need to know about this release.
Skin transfer and drop system
One of the questions that players asked more than once during the closed beta was the fate of the rarities accumulated in their inventory. There is no need to worry about transferring skins: all items that the player owned in CS:GO will automatically appear in CS2, and, moreover, as we have already mentioned more than once, their appearance will improve.
But the drop system has changed. According to most, it has become more player-friendly. The general principle remains the same: play in different modes, earn experience and receive items as you level up. But now the player is given a choice of four options, from which he can choose two. It cannot influence what exactly will drop, but you can still immediately discard a useless skin in favor of something more attractive.
New matchmaking and rating system
We have previously talked in detail about how Valve has reworked the matchmaking. The developers sought to please both those who play purely for fun and those who want to break into the professional scene. With the launch of CS2, the first official season of competitive matchmaking began – an excellent chance for talented players to prove themselves.
Unjustified expectations
However, the release of Counter-Strike 2 was not without problems. Many expected that the release of the new version into general access would be marked by new content, for example, a case, or even another operation. However, so far the players have not received any large-scale innovations of this kind.
Fans of the Danger Zone mode were also dissatisfied. It can hardly be called extremely popular, but it had its own audience. This mode was no longer available in Counter-Strike 2, and it is unclear whether it will return in the near future.
