Brazilian team DETONA was forced to leave CBCS Elite Season 1 a day after the start of the event – the first RMR tournament in South America since the beginning of 2021. One of the DETONA players was accused of owning an account that was VAC banned for using a skin swapping tool.
Commenting on the incident, DETONA said it would conduct an internal investigation into the allegations before leaving the competition "as a show of transparency, fair play, and respect for Valve, the event organizers, and the esports community." The team also mentioned that the ban in question was issued before kauez joined the team in January 2021, and went unnoticed when they checked the player's background.
The indictment against kauez was disappointing news for DETONA, which had recently signed several promising players and had a successful opening match with a win at INTZ. Now the results of this game will also be revised.
DETONA became the second team that had to leave CBCS Elite Season 1 for this reason: a few days ago, Bears player Mateusz “cidZzZ” Piber Fao was also accused of having a VAC ban imposed on his old account.
