Counter-Strike 2’s leap to the Source 2 engine brought massive visual upgrades, beautiful lighting, and those gorgeous volumetric smoke grenades. But with better graphics comes the eternal PC gamer struggle: chasing maximum frames per second.

CS2 takes advantage of modern tech like NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency and G-Sync, but one major feature is noticeably missing from the video settings menu. So, does CS2 have DLSS? Here’s everything you need to know about the feature and why it isn't in your favorite tactical shooter.

What is DLSS?

NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) is an RTX-exclusive technology designed to boost frame rates without sacrificing image quality. It works by rendering your game at a lower resolution to take the load off your hardware, and then uses AI upscaling to make it look like it's running at your native resolution.

In visually demanding single-player games, it’s a magic bullet for performance. Naturally, players want to know if they can use it to squeeze an extra 100 FPS out of Counter-Strike 2.

Does Counter-Strike 2 Have DLSS?

The short answer is no. CS2 does not support DLSS.

Despite being a flagship PC title with heavy NVIDIA integrations (like Reflex), Valve has intentionally left DLSS out of the game. And honestly, it makes total sense for a competitive shooter. Here is why:

1. CS2 is a CPU-Heavy Game

Counter-Strike has always been heavily dependent on your processor. For the vast majority of players, their system is bottlenecked by their CPU, not their graphics card. Because DLSS specifically takes the load off the GPU, adding it to CS2 wouldn’t actually give most players a meaningful FPS boost.

2. Competitive Integrity and Visual Artifacts

In Counter-Strike, a single pixel shifting across your screen can be the difference between winning a clutch or losing the round. While DLSS is incredible technology, AI upscaling isn't perfect. It is prone to "ghosting" (blurring behind fast-moving objects) and visual artifacts.

Imagine missing a crucial AWP shot because a glitched pixel looked like a CT's head peaking over a box. In a game where absolute precision and visual clarity are mandatory, AI-generated pixels are a competitive liability.

What About AMD FSR?

Interestingly, CS2 does feature an alternative: AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). You can find it in your advanced video settings.

However, just because it’s there doesn't mean you should use it. For the exact reasons mentioned above, blurriness and input lag, almost every CS2 pro and high-level faceit player leaves FSR completely disabled. Native resolution is always king when it comes to visual clarity.

The Verdict

Valve isn't opposed to DLSS as a technology—they actually implemented it in their new MOBA shooter, Deadlock. It simply isn't a good fit for the hyper-precise, CPU-bound environment of Counter-Strike 2.

If you want to boost your FPS in CS2, your best bet is upgrading your CPU, tweaking your video settings to low, and turning off background apps.
