Tournament organizer Eden Esports, which has previously hosted events such as Supernova Malta, Champions Cup and Malta Vibes, has teamed up with agency Fantasyexpo to produce a new competition series called the European Development Championship. The prize fund for the first five tournaments in this series will be $150,000.
The main task of this event – help promote regional teams and broadcasters. Therefore, the selection system will be structured as follows: partners who buy the rights to broadcast competitions will have the right to select teams or hold qualifying tournaments at the local level.
The first series of open qualifying matches is scheduled for November 14-15 and November 21-22. Then, on November 27-29, preliminary competitions will be held and, finally, on November 30, the main tournament will begin. The team that takes first place will be able to count on a grand prize of $17,500, and will also receive the right to host a bootcamp at the InterContinental Hotel in Malta.
Head of "Eden Sports" spoke about the company’s plans as follows: “Launch of the European Development Championship – a consequence of the fact that for a long time in Europe a few teams have dominated, which is why eSports fans in many countries have no way to follow the achievements of local teams. We believe we can make a difference by providing them with tournament slots and partnerships.”
